JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Wilkes-Barre invites applications for a Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor (36 weeks) of Electrical Engineering Technology to begin August 2025. This is a 36-week term (single year) academic appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire with a strong possibility of appointment renewal for subsequent periods.

Responsibilities: Teach an average of four (4) courses and associated labs each semester in Electrical Engineering Technology and related disciplines; subjects may include Electrical Circuits and Systems, Circuit Theory, Discrete and Integrated Electronics. Digital Design, Electric Machines, Microcontroller and PLC programming, Control Systems, and High Frequency Systems. The successful candidate will be committed to active and collaborative learning and the instructional use of technology in a student-centered environment. Participate in professional organizations and in course, curriculum, and program development. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities.

Qualifications: Masters in Electrical Engineering or a related area at the time of appointment. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.

Lecturer - A lecturer or instructor should possess at least a master's degree or its equivalent, or be an active candidate for a terminal degree, in an academic field related to their teaching specialization. The Assistant teaching professor should possess a terminal degree or its equivalent in an academic field related to his/her teaching specialization; alternatively, the assistant teaching professor without a terminal degree should possess at least a master's degree or its equivalent in an academic field related to their teaching specialization; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher and adviser; and must have shown evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter.

Campus information: Penn State Wilkes-Barre is one of 24 Penn State campuses statewide. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 350 students; about 20% are adult learners. We offer seven baccalaureate and four associate degrees, as well as the coursework for the first two years of more than 275 Penn State baccalaureate majors. Students and faculty at Penn State Wilkes-Barre have all the resources of a major research university in a small college atmosphere with a low student/faculty ratio.
