This position is responsible for the overall management of a book of business. The Strategic Account Executive is accountable for the maintenance, growth and increased profitability of existing business, the acquisition of new business on existing accounts, customer satisfaction and the strategic direction of assigned accounts. Direct strategic, customer specific initiatives, which deliver "value added" services through the execution of client specific business plans.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinate and influence superior customer service delivery by developing and maintaining strong intercompany relationships
Forges relationships with key customers and consultants; acts as main contact for UnitedHealthcare
Develop and monitor client financial performance including renewal planning, negotiation and profitability levels
Consistently exceeds objectives for profitability and persistency
Secure new business through marketing and effective product and service expansion
Participates in all major finalist presentations and RFP/NBEA situations
Recognized as a subject matter expert for products, service and technology aspects
Demonstrate marketing and technical expertise through: Client, broker and consultant meetings
Assessment of approach, resources, and contacts needed to complete RFP's

Required Qualifications:
Sales insurance license maintained by law must be acquired
Account management experience in the insurance industry
Solid working knowledge of business planning and financial/underwriting acumen
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Proven excellent communications and interpersonal skills (internal/external)
Proven solid influence, collaboration and listening skills
Proven ability to navigate an often ambiguous and complex organization to resolve customer issues
Proven solid negotiation and leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to create a strategic vision and plan its implementation
Proven solid team player
Proven superior verbal, written and presentation skills
Proven customer-focused; able to work with employers, consumers, consultants, brokers
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience working with brokers and consultants, handling large client benefit offerings
California Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $60,000 to $130,000 annually. Role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
