Description

APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Analyze data and Apple product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished Apple product, including designing and manufacturing acoustic components for iPhones. Collaborate with multi-functionals teams in developing the product manufacturing and test processes. Work on process flows and equipment and fixture designs for adhesives dispensing, laser and micro welding, die-cut, optical alignment, PSA, component assembly and leak testing to meet cycle time requirements. Manage implementation schedules for new product development builds. Manage validation and maintenance plans for equipment setup, optimize parameters and machine buy-off. Perform design of experiments (DOE), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and other industry standard tools on customer returns and factory fallout to identify risks of product performance and reliability. Optimize process paramaters to ensure manufacturing process meets cycle time requirements. Communicate project readiness and identify technical challenges of scalable design and process in a mass production to engineering and operations executives to meet product performance and factory operational targets. Coordinate multi-functional activities in the supply chain for operational readiness and drive project technical and operational issues in New Product Introduction (NPI) phases leading into mass production. Evaluate prospective suppliers’ production capability and quality management, including machine buy-offs, line audits and product performance, inspections and functional stress testing. Direct suppliers to establish and validate the process capability with statistical tools to meet designs, test, and quality requirements for Apple products, including building mechanical reliability and acoustic performance programs and manufacturing process control plans. Perform finite element analysis (FEA) for adhesives used in micro speakers and surround thermoforming tooling to improve product performance adhesives and speaker diaphragm robustness. Create simulation models for speaker modules to detect and mitigate mechanical reliability failures. International Travel Required 35%. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,397 - $227,600/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

  • 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

  • Applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis to design product and fixtures, build products with drawings per FAI/SPC dimensions and profile requirements

  • Analyzing failure modes and identifying the process or design root cause through design and process failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), using microscope, functional testing, cross-section analysis, take apart inspections and duplication studies, to understand failure modes and root causes in reliability and performance, from design, process and quality

  • Applying design of experiment(DOE) approach to drive and validate corrective actions based on failure analysis

  • Using knowledge of advanced manufacturing to ensure parts and components are assembled accurately, fixtures are fabricated and qualified

  • Performing finite element analysis (FEA) to analyze and improve design

  • Prototyping skills to support New Product Introduction(NPI) development and validation

  • Applying quality control including CP and CPK analysis

  • Testing the process and equipment qualification to validate design concepts, reliability performance and engineering requirements defined for the product

  • Performing data analysis using statistical tools(Excel, MATLAB, or JMP) to drive product design or process optimization

  • Applying engineering knowledge and experience into product design or tool design
