UPMC Infectious Disease Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in Cumberland, Maryland
UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a highly motivated Infectious Disease Clinical Pharmacist to lead its Antimicrobial Stewardship Program.
UPMC Western Maryland is a 224-bed nonprofit, acute care hospital located in Cumberland, Maryland. The hospital serves Allegany and Garrett Counties in Maryland, as well as neighboring counties in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and is part of the UPMC Health system. The ID Pharmacist will be responsible for daily stewardship activities and local oversight of the stewardship program. The pharmacist will collaborate with and receive support from UPMC Health System’s Antimicrobial Stewardship leadership to leverage system resources and facilitate stewardship best practices locally.
Other activities include:
Utilize TheraDoc as part of daily workflow.
Work collaboratively with local hospital and pharmacy leadership, Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, Clinical Microbiology, and other relevant local leaders to improve antimicrobial stewardship practice and patient outcomes.
Participate in both local and health system antimicrobial subcommittees.
Participate in UPMC’s systemwide Antimicrobial Stewardship pharmacist clinical leads council.
Provide education to providers, nurses, pharmacists, and other members of the local health care teams.
Participate in the educational experience of pharmacy students during their Advanced Practice Pharmacy Experience rotations.
Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree; PharmD preferred.
Current licensure as a Pharmacist in practicing state
Completion of ASHP accredited PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency OR PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency plus 3 years clinical pharmacy experience in a specialized area OR 6 years clinical pharmacy experience in a specialized area.
Specialized knowledge and expertise in advanced pharmacy practice and service, comprehensive medication management, and evidence-based medicine in specialized area appropriate for clinical assignments
BPS Board Certification preferred
