Amazon Sr. Production Operations Manager, Live Sports Production in Culver City, California

Come and be a part of Amazon's dynamic Live Sports Production Team! We are looking for an experienced Production Operations lead to oversee multiple and overlapping sports properties through the full project lifecycle.

The Production Operations team is responsible for delivering high quality event productions on all global live sports properties to customers worldwide, across all Prime Video product lines and devices. We also support our productions through process improvements, scalability, and various initiatives. We work on designing solutions (tools and mechanisms) to manage and support productions globally so our team can work more efficiently and continue to scale.

Key job responsibilities

In this role you will use your production, field operations and project management experience to plan and execute high-profile events ensuring operational timelines and financial planning are met. You will own and manage the end-to-end project life cycle and day-to-day operational elements of assigned sports properties. You will be responsible for creating production timelines and budgets from the initial projected business scope, through the execution and ongoing supervision of the day-to-day live event production and ending with post-mortem and reconciliation stage. You will be responsible for shepherding the vendor selection process and serve as the primary point of contact for Production Service Partners (PSP), defining the scope of work and deliverables working with BA/BD/Legal on the contract terms.

As a Sr. Production Operations Manager, you will work closely with editorial and technical workstreams, and be responsible for managing and scaling production, while assessing cost standards that may impact the budget and forecasts ensuring timely delivery of property launch or re-starts.

The successful candidate is a self-starter and possesses the ability to complete high volumes of complex tasks and projects quickly, and reacts with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require immediate response and turnaround. The candidate has a proven track record taking on end-to-end ownership, and is effective at delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. The candidate will be able to issue spot, drive decision making, and escalate matters that have risk impact.

Day-to-Day

  • Own and manage the end-to-end project lifecycle of a property re-start of new property launch, gathering business requirements, implementing workstreams, and developing milestones and launch schedule to ensure successful delivery of event.

  • Oversee on-site event production operations including Health & Safety, risk management, and vendor relationships.

  • Work closely with the Production Finance team to track and reconcile all production costs, ensuring external vendors and production team are aware of overall production spend.

  • Collaborate with Amazon teams (e.g., legal, business affairs, business development, production finance, accounting, and other global operations team) in operationalizing properties and driving synergy as needed

  • Lead regular status updates on project timelines and budgets to senior leadership. Recognize and flag possible issues and blockers, providing timely solutions to resolve issues.

  • Seek continuous improvements in execution of existing productions (e.g., recommend necessary changes to operational strategy, seek alignment with necessary stakeholders and implement changes at regular intervals).

  • Support the Global Head of Production Ops and the senior Production team in implementing the operational strategy across all Prime Video Live Sports properties. Align regularly with production team across other regions to share best practices and integrate new learnings.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of budgeting, scheduling and cost reporting experience

  • Experience as a producer, production manager, line producer or in production risk management

  • 8+ years of experience in production, technical and/or operational planning; including logistical planning related to event production

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading large projects and facilitate group meetings

  • Proven track record working with large scale vendors and broadcast media partners; experience negotiating with 3rd party vendors

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $88,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
