Amazon Business Manager, Amazon MGM Studios Marketing in Culver City, California

Amazon MGM Studios is the home for talent, creating and producing Original films and television series for a global audience. Original series premiere exclusively on Prime Video, which is available in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Amazon MGM Studios also produces and acquires Original movies for theatrical release and exclusively for Prime Video, in addition to producing Original content for Freevee, Amazon’s premium free streaming service.

We are hiring for a Business Manager role, which is a key, senior leader on the Amazon MGM Studios Marketing team, reporting into the Head of Marketing (HoM). This role is dedicated to managing the strategic planning and development initiatives of the Marketing department at Amazon MGM Studios. The role requires extensive expertise of the overall Amazon MGM Studios’ operation, and will require designing innovative solutions for the org. This role is dedicated to (a) the strategy and planning tasks for Studios Marketing, (b) devising and implementing scalable, best-in-class business practices in support of the HoM’s vision and strategy, (c) developing a fiscally responsible department, and (d) identifying, developing, and managing strategically important, significant, challenging, or risky initiatives for the department. This role will manage extremely challenging problems, decisions, and escalations to mitigate globally impactful risks to Studios Marketing. In addition to orgs within Amazon MGM Studios (Development, Production, Operations), the role will require interfacing with the Prime Video (PV) US, PV International, PR/Communications, Finance, and Legal organizations, in addition to key external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for this role has deep experience in long-term business development, strategic planning, change management, and financial analysis. This individual is focused on the planning and execution of plans within Marketing, as well as supporting processes for the wider Amazon MGM Studios business. They identify strategic business needs and lead appropriate cross-functional teams to develop and implement mechanisms that support timely, well-informed decision making across the Studios Marketing organization. This individual will apply cross-functional business acumen, and anticipate and resolve challenges to achieving our business goals. They are an expert at influencing without authority to deliver results. The ideal candidate will excel in communication and organization skills. They have exceptionally high attention to detail and are an expert at building and maintaining internal and external relationships. Amazon MGM Studios still operates very much with a start-up mentality, and this executive needs to be equally comfortable leading high-level meetings and rolling up their sleeves to handle document writing and analytically grounded strategic recommendations for the company.

Key job responsibilities

  • Author business documents and reports to communicate state of the business or recommend new initiatives.

  • Identify, develop, and manage high-impact strategic marketing opportunities for Amazon MGM Studios.

  • Act as a communication conduit between the Marketing department and both internal and external stakeholders/teams.

  • Collaborate closely with Creative Strategy & Planning, Marketing Operations, and Franchise Management teams to manage incoming project pipelines effectively, with focus on high-priority tentpoles.

  • Aid the HoM in identifying key business goals and ensuring that the Marketing organization meets those goals.

  • Establish annual Studios Marketing goals, plans and related metrics, track progress, and manage through obstacles to achieve program objectives.

  • Execute against ad hoc projects, including creation and delivery of presentations, data management and reporting, etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, marketing or related fields, or equivalent work experience

  • 10+ years of experience engaging with senior executives, preferably in the entertainment industry

  • Experience working with studio departments such as Marketing, Production, Research, PR, Business and Legal affairs

  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives, often in ambiguous situations

  • Experience driving projects to completion through influence versus authority

  • Excellent communicating effectively in written and verbal form

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team to achieve short, medium and long-term goals.

  • Experience with business support tools including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AirTable, Smartsheet

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s in Business Administration degree (or equivalent)

  • 15+ years of experience engaging with senior executives, preferably in the entertainment industry

  • A passion for content, brands, digital media and digital video

  • Strong leader who can prioritize well and communicate clearly (verbally and written) across all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated bias for action with strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask

  • Deep understanding of the entertainment industry

  • Expertise in data mining, data management and reporting

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $268,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
