Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Specialist to support the development and execution of communications strategies. This mid-level position requires experience in defense acquisition program management, public and legislative affairs, and strategic communications. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to research, develop, and deliver high-quality government documentation and manage communications in a fast-paced, international, and technically complex defense-related environment.
Duties :
Support the development and execution of strategic communication plans and campaigns to advance the F-35 JPO’s mission and objectives.
Research, develop, analyze, and deliver official U.S. Government documentation, including materials for public affairs, legislative affairs, defense acquisition, and workforce management.
Contribute communications expertise related to weapon systems acquisition and life cycle management within a defense acquisition program environment.
Draft and edit communication materials, such as press releases, talking points, briefings, and reports, ensuring alignment with government policies and objectives.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including public affairs offices and international partners, to ensure effective messaging.
Utilize Adobe products and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, SharePoint, and Outlook) to produce advanced reports, presentations, and communication materials.
Assist with managing communications in response to time-sensitive issues, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information.
Monitor and analyze stakeholder feedback and media coverage to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure compliance with U.S. Government policies and regulations in all communications and documentation.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support F-35 JPO communications and public affairs efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years of experience researching, developing, analyzing, staffing, and delivering official U.S. Government documentation across disciplines such as public affairs, legislative affairs, defense acquisition, and workforce management.
Relevant experience in public affairs and/or strategic communications in a fast-paced, international, technically complex, and defense-related environment.
Familiarity with defense acquisition program management related to weapon systems acquisition and life cycle management.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in Adobe products and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, SharePoint, and Outlook.
Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality government documentation and briefings.
Effective organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Clearance Requirement:
Active Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the mission, objectives, and global partnerships of the F-35 JPO.
Experience supporting strategic communications for defense programs with international involvement.
Knowledge of U.S. Government policies and procedures related to public affairs and defense acquisition.
