Battelle Memorial Institute Business Development Director, RF and Electronic Warfare in Crystal City, Virginia

Job Summary

Battelle has developed and matured a digital aperture communications platform that is designed to transform RF/SATCOM performance across a very broad frequency band. You will champion the sale of this technology into applicable government markets. Research, Development, Testing and Evaluation (RDT&E) funded programs will be the initial focus to compliment the Internal Research and Development Funding. The ideal candidate will have experience identifying market targets, experience with the federal budget process, call plan development, account planning, opportunity assessment and qualification, and aligning internal investment to customer markets.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and growing an established and extensive Radio Frequency (RF) and Electronic Warfare (WF) opportunity portfolio initially focused on C2ISR applications.

  • Developing and maintaining client relationships that include government departments/agencies and commercial communication platform owners, to grow current and future business, and cultivate relationships with partners.

  • Shaping, identifying, capturing, and managing strategic opportunities that support business strategies.

  • Leading sales/business development with responsibility for growing to $100M+ in annual sales within five years

  • Identifying and shaping opportunities that benefit clients and meet Battelle strategies.

  • Providing market and competitor intelligence on market segments on market competitors.

  • Supporting and/or leading capture teams to establish overall proposal strategies and themes which clearly differentiate Battelle from competitors.

  • Building and maintaining a robust pipeline of leads and opportunities capable of meeting or exceeding established business unit order goals.

  • Assisting in technology product roadmap development

  • Up to 50% travel required.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science-related technical field and 10 or more years of related experience; with at least 10 years of experience in DoD organizations, federal civil or defense business development or government contracting. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

  • Existing network of clients and collaborators in the government and commercial RF/SATCOM/EW markets, and the ability to leverage these into qualified business opportunities.

  • Experience and knowledge of federal acquisition procedures and timelines.

  • Proven track record winning opportunities with Federal and Commercial clients.

  • Competitor knowledge in assigned market space and experience in competitive assessment; experience in developing large government proposals.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technical presentations to internal and external customers.

  • Proven track record supporting business development for an organization with over $100M in annual sales

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Active TS or TS/SCI security clearance
