DESCRIPTION OF WORK This is an entry-level Caseworker position with a reduced caseload and increased supervision and oversight. The primary responsibility of this position is the provision of direct service to a caseload of families.
Direct service includes, but is not limited to the following performance and provision of specific services such as; Conducting assessments/investigations; Case management; Placement of children into foster homes; Supportive counseling to children and their families; Assistance in specialized areas such as home and money management, child rearing, employment, and living arrangements for children and adolescents; Case specific coordination and advocacy including making referrals to increase effectiveness of services. The majority of the work is conducted during home visits or in community settings. The employee in this position will participate in county training programs and formal training leading to caseworker certification.
Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Position may require working beyond the regular workday to meet the needs of families. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
