Cuyuna Regional Medical Center * Ambulance Service Crosby, MN Clinical & Technical Part Time Over, 12-hour Varied Shift FTE: .3 FTE (24 hours per pay period) Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend Posted 08/28/2024 Req # 13446 POSITION SUMMARY Paramedics are highly trained and dedicated health care team members who provide emergency and respiratory care to patients as part of the EMS system. Paramedics must deal with both injury and illness and the emotional problems that result for such emergencies. Effective problem solving and overall efficiency are essential components to this success. Paramedics work toward the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Previous EMS experience preferred. License/Certificates: Current Paramedic certification from the State of Minnesota EMSRB. Valid Minnesota Driver's License. American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. American Heart Association ACLS and PALS required within 4 months of hire (provider or instructor-level). Must provide proof of EVOC training in the last 3 years or will be required to complete training within 6 months of hire. Special Skills and Aptitudes: Ability to solve problems and implement solutions effectively. Effective interpersonal relation skills, observation and reporting skills. Ability to adapt resources to the needs of the situation. Ability to perform routine and complex procedures. Ability to lead and supervise activities. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Exercises concern for patient/resident welfare above all. Responsible for being prepared at all times to respond to calls for help. Collaborates with others to complete work and at times works alone. Responds to the scene swiftly but safely at all times. Performs routine and complex procedures following standard protocols and instructions within established quality control procedures. Makes certain that the scene of the call is safe, and when called upon to do so, assists with the control of activities at the scene. Monitors record systems and Quality Control systems and solves problems by orderly and appropriate processes. Assists in evaluation, troubleshooting and development of procedures. Assists in new employee orientation. Participate in the preceptor process. Operates and utilizes a variety of EMS/RT equipment. Assists in maintenance and troubleshooting of EMS equipment. Receives telephone, radio and/or verbal orders from physicians for procedures and care guidelines. Safely gains access to patients, using special tools when necessary. Determines, to the level of their training, what may be wrong with the patient and provides the appropriate level of patient care in accordance with training level and patient care protocols. Performs clerical tasks such as documenting findings, answering telephones, maintaining logs and records. Practices and maintains high ethical standards including resident/patient confidentiality. Demonstrates resourcefulness in emergency situations. Free, lift, and move the patient, when required, and do so without causing additional injury to the patient or self. Prepare and properly transfer the patient to and from an ambulance. Transport the patient safely to the appropriate medical center, proving the needed care and en route communications. Return safely from the run, complete records and reports, disinfect any needed equipment, vehicle surfaces, or self. Restock used supplies and prepare for the next response. Under the direction of the RN, assist with the care of patients in the Emergency Department to include the withdraw of medications from the omnicell, preparation and administration of ordered medications, application of splints and casts, assist with cleaning and debridement of wounds, application of dressings, administer EKG's, breathing treatments, airway management to include intubation, blood draws, initiation of intravenous therapy. The paramedic can perform all skills that they re qualified to perform and have a current competency to perform on file. Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.
