OVERVIEW

The Sr. Corporate Controls Engineer reports to the Sr. Corporate Director of Controls Engineering. This position is responsible for the successful design and support of process control systems for the Corporate Engineering Team. Specifically, this role will support Upgrading the existing control system in all manufacturing facilities. In addition, the Corporate Controls Engineers will analyze, design, and implement the algorithms needed to sustain continuous improvement based on manufacturing direction and will direct the activities of other resources to implement design(s).

The Senior Controls Engineer plays a critical role within the Corporate Engineering Team, focusing on the design, implementation, and optimization of process control systems. This position requires a strong background in controls engineering, process engineering, and data science, with a keen interest in utilizing data analytics tools to drive continuous improvements in manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the plant Process Engineering and Controls teams across ASR Group's various sites, serving as a technical resource and advisor to ensure compliance with corporate standards and facilitate the implementation of advanced control solutions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Computer Systems Engineering from an accredited university.

  • 8+ years of process control engineering and automation systems experience

  • Experience with legacy system upgrades and migrations is a plus

    PREFERRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred but not required

    ESSENTIAL SYSTEM CAPABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Practical experience designing control algorithms (e.g., PID, MPC) for industrial applications.

  • Advance skills in PLC-based controls (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens) and Wonderware SCADA systems.

  • Knowledge of control systems communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).

  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) with DeltaV or other DCS systems is a plus.

  • Intermediate skill working with databases and Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • Experience with OSI PI System

  • Intermediate skills in data analytics, process improvements, and cybersecurity for control systems.

  • Understanding ISA and IEC control system standards.

    PREFERRED SYSTEM CAPABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Proficient in Allen Bradley PLC family (e.g., ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC 5).

  • Experience with Wonderware Systems Platform or other DCS/SCADA systems (e.g., Honeywell, Emerson DeltaV).

  • Proficient in Python or NET programming languages

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and data visualization tools.

  • Experience with process modeling tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and integrating them with control systems.

  • Understanding of electrical schematic wiring diagrams for power distribution and motor control circuits.

  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and frameworks for intelligent control systems or anomaly detection.

  • Knowledge of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and edge computing is a plus.

    DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, support, and upgrade process control systems for manufacturing and refining processes.

  • Analyze, design, and implement control algorithms for continuous process improvement.

  • Provide technical leadership for control system upgrades, including legacy system migrations.

  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Controls teams, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Document system changes, upgrades, and procedures for knowledge sharing and training.

    $99,000-$184,000

    The pay range for this position is below. The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
