Florida Crystals Corporation Packaging Team Manager in Crockett, California

OVERVIEW

The primary responsibility of the Packaging Team Manager is to lead a team to improve the equipment reliability, OEE, pounds packed, safety, and quality of the Packaging department in the Crockett Refinery.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads the packaging operations team in the daily operations, maintenance, repair and upgrading of all packaging systems including changes and improvements in maintenance and repair methods. He/She will ultimately have the responsibility for meeting or exceeding established key results for the Production Department (efficiency, cost, safety, sanitation, regulatory compliance and organizational development / accountability).

The Packaging Team Manager reports directly to the Packaging Department Manager, directly supervises the Packaging Supervisors, and has daily contact with Packaging Engineers, Procurement, Corporate Engineering, and other supervisory and engineering staff members.

  • Review daily packaging operation with respect to overall efficiency, pounds packed, attainment for lines, and current established production schedule

  • Direct the daily activities of the Packaging Supervisors to ensure coordination of proper priorities.

  • Review the previous day's operation with the Packaging Department Manager and inform the Department Manager of current actual problems and expected problem areas which could affect customer delivery, product quality, or production line capability.

  • Review the shutdown checklist and cleaning schedules to assure that maintenance and cleaning are done effectively, with no adverse effect on production rate.

  • Develop and implement plans to improve substandard performance.

  • Determine the long-range needs of the packaging operations department and develop plans that implement solutions.

  • Develop and maintain an effective organization and good working climate by organizing the staff into a working team of motivated employees. Conducts performance evaluations on a timely basis and establishes performance goals.

  • Develop and lead the packaging operations team in the transition to a culture of accountability through the development and implementation of a 30-, 60- and 90-day transition plan. Ensure that all packaging maintenance employees are actively participating in teams using monthly and or weekly measurable results as benchmarks for success.

    WORK EXPERIENCES

  • 4-6 years of experience in maintenance, engineering, and operations

  • 3 or more years of experience leading a team in an industrial setting

  • Proven ability to lead and make decisions to improve KPI’s

  • Proven ability to coach, guide, develop, and train employees in a team environment

  • Motivate the team to push the envelope, quality and sense of urgency with a right balance

  • Experienced in common models such as FMEA, Fishbone, or other RCCA methods

  • Kaizen Facilitator is preferred

  • Food production / processing experience is preferred

  • Supervisory experience in a union environment preferred

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Engineering degree/Technical certificate or equivalent experience required.

  • MBA Preferred

  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred

  • HACCP certificate preferred

  • SQF certification preferred

  • GMP certification preferred

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Supervises the Packaging Operations Supervisors, and through them, the hourly workforce of the department.

    SALARY RANGE

    $102,500-$190,500

    The pay range for this position is above. The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
