Green Hills AEA Teacher Alternative Program (2025-2026) in Creston, Iowa

Green Hills Area Education Agency is looking to fill a Teacher, Alternative Program in our Rising Hope Academy classroom in Orient Macksburg for the 2025-2026 school year.

Qualifications:

Iowa teaching license with a special education endorsement required. K-12 Instructional Strategist I or II endorsement and classroom experience is preferred.

  • The teacher will be responsible for assisting students in the classroom in the areas of instruction, behavioral, or emotional needs based on each individual student.
  • Promote a positive learning climate for students of all ages in the classroom.
  • Establish and maintain community-school relationships to achieve and maintain continuity of the classroom for students being served.
  • Facilitate development and monitor measurable objectives for individual education plans (IEP) as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, staff, community agencies,and students about progress when appropriate.
  • Regular and timely attendance as scheduled is required
  • Develop and distribute progress reports as required, recording progress in the students IEP when appropriate.
  • Collecting, tracking and entering in ACHIEVE student behavior progress and programs implemented to achieve desired behaviors.
  • Complete training and use, when necessary, Crisis Prevention Techniques (CPI).
  • Develop lesson plans appropriate for each individual student.
  • Assist in the development of strategies that compliment the efforts of general education teachers for inclusive classrooms/settings.
  • Collaborate with district and agency staff and other community staff members on the status of instruction for students in the program as they transition in/out of the program.
  • Provide crisis intervention and behavior management services to students and their families.
  • Serves as a member of diagnostic teams; member of educational planning and placement committees; provides liaison services for students to teachers, administration, community agencies and family.
  • Assign and schedule daily duties of paraprofessionals in the classroom.
