We are looking for a Director, Governance, Risk & Opportunities,and project leader, who has managed both successful and challenging projects throughout their career and has an appreciation for risk and opportunities as a key element for project predictability. The candidate is required to have a strong knowledge of project controls, best practices and also the ability to recognize tools and processes that may be misguiding project execution. The main function of this role is to implement in one Business Unit a project governance process at proposals phase to ensure Westinghouse proposes projects it can successfully execute while taking tolerable risks.
As such, this role has two sets of tactical responsibilities: 1) to implement a governance model at a level under the VP of Governance, Risk and Opportunities, and serve as the second line of defense for the Business Unit. And 2) to drive the implementation of risk and opportunities processes and tools during project execution, as well as for the analysis of the risk and opportunities information to maintain visibility of top risks and to translate those risks and opportunities into profitable business initiatives.
The candidate will actively engage in implementing mitigation plans to support business unit objectives and will drive proactive behaviors to address project specific and portfolio risks. The candidate will need to partner with the business unit senior leadership team and key project personnel to ensure Westinghouse retains a healthy risk/reward balance. This role will lead critical project reviews and is responsible to support the business to prepare portfolio reviews at the BU/segment and sub-segment level.
This role as a risk subject matter expert, asan enabling function with appropriate controls as needed, and covers risk profiles and extensive analytics, partnering with a specific business unit, and responsible for delivery of anywhere from 500 to 1000 active projects across multiple portfolios.We will consider a US Remote candidate for this role.
Your Day to Day: Implement project and portfolioreviews at the Segment and Business Unit level to ensure main risks are properly identified, risk registers have comprehensive mitigations and are developed according to a coherent execution plan with appropriate controls in place. Lead the business organization through influence and facilitation to capitalize project returns. Perform predictive analytics at a project and portfolio level to identify key risk categories based on experience to evolve risk management standards. Screen top risk with commercial and operations leaders, and identify systemic risks to be addressed at the leadership level. Develop and analyze key performance and key risk indicators to identify areas for opportunity and collaborate with the business unit to establish key actions around risk mitigation and compliance with policies. Lead risk reviews at portfolio level and coordinate mitigation/risk plans and corrective actions, with oversight on implementation and effectiveness. Accountable to drive Risk and Opportunity management behaviors to improve the maturity of the project management organization. Lead and influence change management efforts related to risk and opportunities that are specified by the Enterprise Project Management Office, working with peers and senior leadership across Westinghouse and key project personnel within the business unit; Communicate and ensure compliance with risk policies and processes.
Who You Are: Bachelors' Degree. Typical discipline areas include Engineering, Projec Management, Risk Management, and Business or other related technical area. Advanced degree in project management, business or Contract Management is preferred. 10+ years of increasing levels of project and risk management experience, EPC experience preferable. Strong leadership in project management/ operations, stakeholder engagement, strategic thinking and change management Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as analytical skills are required.
