Whidbey General Hospital Housekeeper - EVS Tech in Coupeville, Washington

JOB SUMMARY

The Housekeeper – EVS Tech supports the mission of providing quality healthcare to the patients of WhidbeyHealth and Clinics by ensuring the overall cleanliness and appearance of the hospital is maintained in a safe, sanitary, and orderly condition. This applies to all in-patient and out-patient departments, as well as ancillary and administrative areas. The Housekeeper – EVS Tech’s responsibilities include general housekeeping, all surface floor maintenance, moving furniture, maintaining the appearance and safe condition of hospital grounds, and is a professional and personable representative of the organization. All work will be performed in accordance to established department schedules and procedures, and other duties may be assigned to support the functions of the Environmental Svcs Department.

PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS includes the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Performs general housekeeping duties and supports the overall appearance and condition of the facility to include, but not limited to the following:

  • Cleaning patient rooms, ancillary areas, public areas, elevators, stairs, and equipment as assigned.

  • Removes trash and soiled linen from all areas; removes recycling and cardboard from all areas.

  • Manages the removal of infectious waste from designated areas to outside storage area.

  • Maintains all-surface floors to include stripping, waxing, scrubbing and buffing hard floors and carpet care.

  • Cleans lights, vents and walls in all areas.

  • Paints interiors and exteriors and repairs will damage no larger than ½ inch in preparation for painting.

  • Cleans screens and windows, inside and out.

  • Performs minor preventative maintenance on equipment used by the Environmental Svcs department.

  • Replaces light bulbs throughout the organization as needed.

  • Keeps corridors free of furniture; follows applicable regulations and fire codes.

  • Moves furniture, equipment, records, files and other items on request.

  • Maintains grounds in a clean and safe condition. Keeps walk ways free of snow and ice; keeps grounds free of garbage.

  • Responds to all calls and requests in a timely manner, to include but not limited to the following:

  • Responds to calls for Airlift Northwest arrivals and escorts flight crew to and from appropriate room.

  • Assists with patient transports as requested, must be accompanied by a clinical staff member.

  • Responds to all code calls with the exception of Rapid Response and Code Blue. As a part of the hospital Fire Team, responds accordingly to all Code Red calls. Responds to emergencies immediately and non-emergencies as requested.

  • Performs duties to support the Security Team. Provides additional security on request for patients and personnel; protects supplies and property from theft or vandalism.

  • Completes work requests within established department guidelines. As needed, coordinates the completion of work request with requesting department in an agreed upon time frame.

  • Prioritizes all work requests and schedules for completion. Coordinates with Plant Operations as needed on the specific nature of work requests to ensure completion by appropriate department.

  • Operates District owned vehicles when required to conduct operations on behalf of the organization.

  • Maintain positive communications with all patients, family members, employees, managers and any other internal or external customers.

  • Greets patients, guests, staff, physicians and vendors with a high degree of personal service, is friendly and welcoming.

  • Able to understand the needs of, and communicate with, different age groups.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Training and Experience

One (1) year of prior housekeeping experience preferred, hospital or similar healthcare setting preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must complete Hazardous Material Training within 90 days of hire.

  • Current and valid Washington State Driver License required. Must provide a copy of Washington State driving record upon hire and may be subject to annual driving record checks based on facility insurance carrier requirements.

    Wage Range: $19.868 - $36.656
