The incumbent is required to perform recurring manual duties related to operation of the equipment and other duties as assigned when not operating equipment. Additionally, an incumbent performs basic vehicle upkeep including lubrication and maintenance of equipment fluid levels. The work is generally performed outdoors at times in inclement weather conditions under general supervision according to established procedures. Does related work as required.Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with benefitsSalary: $21.5585-$27.2876/hr. (CSEA Union)Location: Cortland County Highway DepartmentStatus: Non-Competitive, ProbationaryBenefits: New York State Retirement System, Low Deductible Health Insurance Plan, Generous Paid Time Off including 13 Paid Holidays, Tuition Assistance available after one year of service.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:(a)One (1) year of experience in the operation of motor equipment, heavy automotive equipment or highway construction and maintenance equipment which requires a Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License; OR(b)Successful completion of a Motor Equipment Operator traineeship.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:1.Possession of a valid New York State Class B Driver’s License with air brake endorsement is required at time of application.2.A New York State Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tank endorsement is required with six (6) months of appointment.
