GENERAL LABORER JOB DESCRIPTION
REPORTS TO: AREA MANAGER
POSITION: HOURLY NON-EXEMPT
Description:
This entry-level position primarily involves stacking lumber safely and efficiently. The role requires performing physical labor either in a sawmill environment, with some exposure to varying weather conditions, or within a manufacturing setting.
Overview: We are seeking motivated and hardworking General Laborers to join our team. This entry-level position offers an opportunity to work in either a sawmill or manufacturing environment, where you will be responsible for stacking lumber, maintaining a clean workspace, and operating various machinery. Ideal candidates will be team players with a strong work ethic, ready to learn and adapt in a physically demanding role. Responsibilities:
Sort and stack hardwood products onto wood carts or in stackdown stands using proper leverage. Straighten lumber on conveyors to align for grading, sawing, edging, trimming, sorting, stacking, or transfer to other conveyors. Shovel bark and chips and maintain a clean work area using a broom and shovel. Ensure the work area is free of banding and boards before leaving each day. Learn to operate various machinery and complete preventative maintenance as scheduled on assigned equipment. Perform tasks that may involve climbing and crawling, particularly in housekeeping duties.
Safety Must wear personal protective equipment, including: Safety glasses Hearing protection Head protection Steel toe work boots Any other protective gear as required
Skills Required:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to cross-train in various positions, be self-motivated, and work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs as needed.
