SCOPE/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The position is part of the corporate sustainability and climate initiatives core and extended team, which is responsible for reducing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of Corning and helping to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius. Corning’s GHG reduction efforts are important to a wide range of our stakeholders, including our people, our partners, our investors, and the communities in which we operate. Based on models of future growth and emissions, we need you to help us meet our goals of reducing emissions by 17% – 30%.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support corporate sustainability critical metrics and initiatives; interpret findings to help drive business decisions.

  • Capture, review and validate environmental data for accuracy; produce resulting progress reports assessing progress against environmental performance targets.

  • Analyze data and draw insights to identify areas of improvement in sustainability initiatives.

  • Build dashboards for clients that highlight key metrics and make it easy for stakeholders to digest the results and share with others.

  • Use existing tools and, where necessary, lead development and maintenance of new analytical tools, to track GHG emissions and goal progress.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • BS or BA required in an environmental science, engineering, or other sustainability related field

  • MA or similar in sustainability strongly preferred

  • 0-2 years relevant experience

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong analytic capabilities (e.g., modeling & forecasting, basic regressions, and statistics; basic linear algebra helpful, but not necessary)

  • Proficient in using Office 365, particularly skilled in Excel, data visualization through Power BI and compelling presentations with PowerPoint.

DESIRED SKILLS :

  • Familiarity with GHG accounting tools (e.g., Gensuite, Intelex, Enablon)

  • Knowledge and/or experience with life-cycle assessments and/or environmental product declarations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present. complex information in a manner that is understandable to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and demands.

  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively.

TRAVEL:

  • We estimate travel at <10% depending upon specific project assignment. Domestic and International.

The range for this position is $70,047.00 - $96,315.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
