Guthrie Supervisor, Housekeeping - Environmental Services - Full Time in Corning, New York

Job Summary:

Assists Environmental Services Director in obtaining and maintaining a high-quality standard of cleanliness by informing management of the immediate condition of all assigned areas and by training, supervising and motivating the Environmental Services personnel to ensure that all established rules of conduct, policy and procedures are observed.

Education, License & Cert:

High school or equivalent, two years of college or equivalent desired.

Experience:

Previous supervisory and Environmental Services experience is highly preferred. Experience with large scale institutional cleanliness practices and Environmental Services standards and regulations is also highly desirable.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures employees in assigned areas have tools and chemicals necessary for performing assigned tasks and that they are being used correctly through continual rounding on all units and buildings as needed.

  • Continuously supervises assigned areas and moves FTEs to accommodate workload, performing quality assurance program inspections to ensure that the assigned personnel are maintaining or obtaining established quality standards.

  • Assures that adequate coverage of all scheduled areas is in place and that personnel are performing efficiently. Reports all pertinent information to Environmental Services Director and other management team members.

  • Understanding of EPIC and assigning and monitoring beds for fast and efficient throughput while working closely with the ADN.

  • Good understanding of Oracle and able to order supplies as needed to par.

  • Assists Director of Environmental Services in the training, evaluation, promoting and disciplining of employees.

  • Handles requests for service with a sense of urgency and in a professional manner.

  • Assists Director of Environmental Services in maintaining all department Quality Improvement Programs, policies and procedures.

  • Contributes valuable ideas and suggestions that will provide improvement to Guthrie Corning and/or Environmental Services Department.

  • Promotes the professional image of the Environmental Services Department and instills a sense of professionalism in the personnel of the Environmental Service Department.

  • Ensures compliance with union contract.

  • Maintains communication between employees, Director of Environmental Services and all departments in Guthrie Corning Hospital

  • Updates Duty list, as needed (e.g., Daily, Quarterly, and Annually).

  • Generates various types of documentation and reports, (e.g., Quality Improvement Program).

  • Assists in evaluation of new and replacement equipment and supplies.

  • Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.

  • Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer’s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Guthrie Corning Hospital.

    Pay Range min $19.12/hr max $29.85/hr
