Cordova Community Medical Center Behavioral Health Clinician in Cordova, Alaska

POSITION SUMMARY

The clinician is responsible for direct clinical services in the form of mental health assessment and treatment, substance abuse assessment and counseling, and co-occurring disorders treatment, with diverse clientele to include SED youth and SMI adults in a Community Behavioral Health Clinic. She/he is expected to provide individual, couple, family, and group counseling/therapy. Will work collaboratively with clinical support staff to identify client needs, develop service delivery plans, and oversee delivery of services to clientele. Works with individuals, their families, guardians, physicians, health care professionals and community resources, to provide necessary services to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial well-being. She/he must assure consistency in his/her clinical service delivery, consumer/staff interaction, and effective and timely documentation. She/he is expected to maintain the highest professional standards.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain ethical behavior commensurate with the code of ethics of the employee profession.

Function as part of the agency team, working in cooperation with all staff.

Attend weekly clinical team meetings.

Attend weekly staff meetings.

Assure completion of documentation in a timely and efficient manner as required by funding sources and agency policy.

Provide comprehensive assessment, outpatient and aftercare, and crisis intervention for mental health and substance abuse clients in accordance with accepted clinical practice standards, current federal, state, and grant administrations and regulations (DBH), ethical standards of their professional affiliation, evidence-based practices and established agency policy and procedures.

Prepare all documentation and other reports as needed.

Represent Sound Alternatives to the community in an appropriate and professional manner.

Carry a caseload in the delivery of direct services including but not limited to individual, group, and family counseling/therapy.

Participate in needs assessment for identification of behavioral health needs in the community.

Provide consultation to members of the CCMC staff and community agencies as needed/requested.

Maintain an excellent working relationship with all community human service agencies and organizations.

Under the direction of the Director of Community Programs, coordinate treatment activities with CCMC departments as necessary.

Participate in treatment team meetings and case conferences with other staff, CCMC staff, OCS, and other involved parties as appropriate.

Maintain client advocacy as a priority within and outside of the agency as necessary.
