Planters First Bank Credit Analyst in Cordele, Georgia

Position Summary: This position is primarily responsible for credit analysis of loans with relationships of $250,000 and over along with loan committee responsibilities. Other responsibilities include preparing reports, assisting, and training loan officers as needed. This position will also interact with various external parties (e.g., regulators and third-party examiners, CPAs, and other financial institutions). Main Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluates the financial condition and risk associated with businesses and individuals applying for credit associated with larger relationships. Analyzes data relevant to loans (e.g., data from credit agencies and other financial institutions). Performs credit inquiries as needed. Prepares reports and opinions regarding the risk associated with making the loans. Provides advice, training and assistance to loan officers as needed. Demonstrates a solid understanding of the banks strategy and operations. Makes recommendations for policies consistent with the banks strategy and operations. Stays current with best practices, policies, and regulations as it applies to the banks credit risk. Shares expertise in a timely and helpful manner. Demonstrates appropriate discretion; keeps confidential information private. Works to understand each customers unique financial needs. Implements and supports management decisions. Extensive contact with existing customers, as well as prospects and business leaders within the community. Annual review of loan relationships Sample reviews of lender portfolios on an ongoing basis Review structure of loans, financial performance of borrower and/or guarantor, economic and industry operating environment as well as other relevant credit risk factors. Assess accuracy of risk ratings based on credit related procedures and recommend rating changes, if necessary. Identify deficiencies in the credit processes. Ensure compliance with the banks lending policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines. Verify that adequate reserves are maintained for borrowers with identified losses. Coordinate management advisory services in the area of Loan Quality Management from the banks outside third party review agency. Assist with coordination of FDIC/State of Georgia examiners during examination periods. Perform financial analysis training to internal lending personnel. Perform annual required Due Diligence on Critical Bank Vendors to meet SAS 70 requirements. Perform internal Appraisal Validations where applicable with supporting documentation. Perform impairment testing for those loans in the loan portfolio that are classified as substandard with loan relationships greater than $300,000. Prepare a supporting worksheet to support the conclusion. Responsibility for calculating the adequacy of the Allowance for Loan Losses and Leases (ALLL) on a quarterly basis to include supporting documentation. Responsibility for tracking and calculating the State/FDIC Adversely Classified Items as required from the Report of Examination. Complies with all bank and personnel policies and procedures including but not limited to policies and procedures regarding the Bank Secrecy Act. Complete periodic training provided and / or required by Planters First Bank, but not limited to BSA training within required time frames assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field. Ability to give and accept instruction and the desire to oversee and assist others. Job Competencies: In-depth knowledge of bank products, services, policies, and operational procedures. Extensive knowledge of consumer and commercial lending laws and regulations. Extensive knowledge of all areas of loan origination, processing, underwriting, and closing. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage loan portfolio. Requires contact with the public. Excellent writ en and oral skills. Sound judgment and decision-making ability.
