The Plant Breeding Specialist supports research activity by assisting in planning and effectively conducting experiments, recording, and analyzing data. Ensures efficient daily operation of field locations.
This position will assist in the management and organization of breeding activities in cotton, as well as data collection and trial execution efforts for the Corcoran Research Station. What You'll Do:
Assist in the execution of the research seed production and the cotton breeding program.
Maintain and improve the efficiency and safety of daily workplace operations.
Manage team resources: employees, equipment, discretionary funds, etc.
Collect data and assess data quality.
The Plant Breeding Specialist will be expected to contribute to the joint success of all research groups at the Corcoran Research Station.
Position coordinates activities through collaboration with other members of the Team. Program plans are often challenged, adjusting to change and implementing a new plan requires flexibility, understanding of crop development, effective resource management, and effective program management skills.
Position will be responsible to target continuous improvements and efficiency gains in research processes.
Make daily decisions associated with conducting experiments.
Decide priority of work activities.
What Skills You Need:
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or scientific related field plus 2-4 years industry related experience required.
Demonstrated excellent communication/personal interaction skills to foster teamwork, enhance a positive work environment, and effectively develop strong internal and external working relationships with a diverse group of people.
Be able to effectively communicate in Spanish is preferred.
Strong experience and skills with computers and data management.
Strong aptitude to operate and maintain planting and harvest equipment including electronics, GPS systems and data collection systems.
Demonstrated skills in leadership, operational safety, supervision and time management.
Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds.
Must be capable of working in varying ergonomic and environmental conditions for extended periods of time.

The salary range for this position is $77,841.00 to $90,820.00.
This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
