Iowa Teaching License with ESL endorsement.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOALS:
To instruct and assess English Language Learners in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child. Utilization of evidence based ELL practices is an expectation. The teacher will create an environment that facilitates learning, personal growth and care. The teacher is expected to establish positive working relationships with all staff members as well as parents.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach English Learners at a variety of English language proficiency levels.
Administer assessments, such as ELPA21, to students.
Implement district approved ELL curriculum.
Assist ELL Coordinator in providing training/in-services for school district staff.
Attend staff development sessions and staff meetings.
Serve as an advisor to the ELL Coordinator, building principals, content-area teachers, etc.
Support classroom and/or content-area teachers with appropriate accommodations for
ELL students, so that they can better understand, teach, and assist ELL student needs..
Provide opportunity for student input.
Maintain positive communication with parents/guardians and all stakeholders.
Encourage the overall growth and development of students.
Provide information about support services, as appropriate, to families and students.
Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 186/184 contract days. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.
7:40-3:40pm
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District’s policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
