The Sr. Manager, Business Operations evaluates, administers, and manages all business and administrative matters including budget, operations, programs and personnel administration for the assigned department. This position also provides financial analysis and strategic planning as well as manages the budgetary controls in partnership with various levels of management.

Operations

  • Make strategic recommendations to the Associate Vice President to optimize workflow and productivity

  • Oversee departmental staff onboarding, ensuring adherence to the UM’s policies and procedures

  • Oversee departmental budgets and identify recommendations for cost reduction

  • Manage department leadership meetings and conference room calendars

  • Oversee Associate Vice President calendar and phone calls

  • Manage budge and reimbursement for AVP

  • Oversee department travel card and manage charges in workday and other reports

  • Process all security badge requests and access to office/conference rooms/kitchen

  • Collaborate with UM Facilities/IT regarding all damages, necessary repairs, or need for equipment

  • Oversee and manage purchasing for all departments

  • Payment and processing of invoices related to department, vendors, i.e., Agiloft, Experian, etc.

  • Order clerical and kitchen supplies for office

  • Maintenance of equipment such as copiers/printers/faxes/computers

  • Collaboration with space planning should employees need to be relocated

  • Process time-off requests and other tasks as delegated in Workday for AVP

  • Management of projects as needed and requested by AVP

Managed Care

  • Oversee managed care departmental budget

  • Oversee high-impact projects for the managed care department

  • Manage and oversee all ad-hoc projects for the department

  • Create executive presentations for the Associate Vice President

  • Oversee Microsoft Planner annual goals and objectives for the entire department

  • Project plan and organize Directors’ meetings with the AVP

  • Work with Managed Care Director to manage and implement all departmental projects

  • Lead improvement projects associated with department’s contract management software

  • Lead improvement projects associated with department’s managed care contract summary site

Population Health

  • Oversee population health department budget

  • Manage all Primary Care Physician Capitation income revenue

  • Oversee population health distribution of revenue across various UMMG departments

  • Oversee any new potential physician practice budget assumptions and recommendations

  • Oversee high-impact projects for the department

  • Manage and oversee all ad-hoc projects for the department

  • Create executive presentations for the Associate Vice President

  • Oversee Microsoft Planner annual goals and objectives for the department

  • Project plan and organize Directors’ meetings with the AVP

  • Work with AVP and Director to manage and implement all departmental projects

Medical Economics

  • Oversee development of strategic analysis from internal and external information sources

  • Provides information and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and growth.

  • Provides data requests, builds project plans, and facilitates cooperative analysis with information systems, financial, delivery systems and other key support departments to provide meaningful analytical information to assess and improve organizational performance.

  • Provides consultation on how to collect and transform raw data into meaningful information.

  • Serves as a project leader in the implementation of roadmap, and other strategic information systems that contribute to managed care growth and strategic planning by integrating key data and information, identifying opportunities, prioritizing activities and targets, and assessing impact of strategic initiatives.

  • Designs, conducts formal and informal presentations, and educational sessions on managed care, marketing, strategy and other analyses or projects as requested.

  • Keeps abreast of current healthcare issues and information technology by attending appropriate meetings and reviewing current literature.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.

  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office)
