The Manager, Programs for the Office of Academic Enhancement’s Programs of Academic Excellence works in support of assigned premier scholars by way of one-on-one and group advising, the creation and execution of original and collaborative programming, and by deliberately and strategically connecting students to resources and opportunities on and off campus.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as Programs of Academic Excellence advisor, providing academic support to assigned students including, but not limited to Ronald A. Hammond Scholars, Gates Millennium Scholars, George W. Jenkins Scholars, and Stamps Scholars.

  • Monitor students’ transitions to college and overall academic progress

  • Maintain regular interaction and conduct necessary follow-up with students

  • Use Navigate to document meetings and student information

  • Promote opportunities and experiences that complement and enrich student’s academic pursuits

  • Triage academic, career, and administrative concerns, making referrals and following up as needed

  • Communicate student issues & concerns with supervisor and/or OAE’s Executive Director

  • Develop new strategies for supporting students, especially those with critical concerns

  • Adhere to strict student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA

  • Assist with all aspects of programming, including creation, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and revision.

  • Lead or assist with the Connection to Opportunities aspect of PAE’s student support program

  • Work with OAE team members and Undergraduate Admissions to assist with scholarship selection processes as needed

  • Review student performance each semester and perform an annual review of scholarship expectations for each student

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of marketing materials and the OAE website as needed

  • Support other areas of OAE – including Empower Me First, Prestigious Awards and Fellowships, and the Foote Fellows Honors Program – as needed

  • Utilize programs such as Qualtrics to collect, analyze, and report data

  • Collaborate with other University departments, including Undergraduate Admission, the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment, Butler Center for Service and Leadership, Toppel Career Center, Camner Center for Academic Resources, Multicultural Student Affairs, Housing and Residential Life, Study Abroad, and the Miller School of Medicine’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion

  • Participate as a in various staff development opportunities

  • Plan long and short-term strategy and goals in collaboration with the OAE team members

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Position requires some evenings and weekends

SALARY:

$52,000

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective and collaborative team member

  • Ability to take direction Demonstrated willingness to take initiative

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion

  • Strong organizational skills Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and two years of relevant experience

  • Equivalent combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered
