Hyatt General Maintenance Engineer / Carpenter in CORAL GABLES, Florida

As a General Maintenance Engineer / Carpenter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of the hotel. You will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks to maintain the hotel's physical assets and uphold our commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience. This position requires a strong technical skill set, attention to detail, and a dedication to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs within the hotel. Ensure all equipment and systems are in optimal working condition.

  • Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions, technical issues, and maintenance problems promptly. Implement effective solutions and coordinate with the Director of Engineering for complex repairs or replacements.

  • Guest Satisfaction: Respond to guest requests and concerns related to maintenance promptly and professionally. Strive to enhance the guest experience by ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and standards, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others. Report any safety hazards and assist in maintaining compliance with local regulations.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and work orders. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible for reference.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the engineering team to coordinate maintenance schedules, prioritize tasks, and share knowledge. Assist in training junior maintenance staff when required.

  • Emergency Response: Be available for on-call duty as needed for emergency maintenance and repairs outside regular working hours.

  • Inventory Management: Manage and monitor supplies, tools, and equipment required for maintenance tasks. Place orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or trade school training preferred.

  • 3 years of experience in carpentry and/or general maintenance, preferably in a luxury hotel or hospitality setting.

  • Public Area and Guest Room Preventative Maintenance knowledge

  • Wood refinishing; rough and finish carpentry; laminate knowledge.

  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, etc.)

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
