What you'll do Working under the direction of the CNE and Senior Vice President of Nursing, the Ambulatory Nursing Director provides clinical oversight, leadership and support for the nursing supervisors and clinical caregivers in the Bassett Medical Group’s Ambulatory Departments. The Ambulatory Nursing Director also participates as a member of Bassett Healthcare Network Directors Team, in such a manner that the organization is able to fulfill its mission on a day-to-day basis and over the longer term. This position is specifically accountable for overall clinical nursing practice and performance of the ambulatory nursing staff, with direct accountability for clinical practice as it relates to, quality and regulatory compliance, interventional and procedural based activities. * In collaboration with operational Directors, accountable for operational results with responsibility of strategic planning, clinical operations, financial and human resource management, program development, management and promotion, and supports practitioner recruitment and retention * Initiates or is assigned responsibility for managing operating system tactical projects to advance departmental and organizational goals * Access and review the organizational structure to position the departments to pursue the mission, vision and network strategic objectives Assisting with accomplishment of agreed upon objectives at the departmental level; and where appropriate, institutes corrective actions, including reallocating resources, reprioritizing, and/or recommending modifications to established plans Assisting with development of service improvements, management systems, expense control programs etc. to ensure achievement of financial objectives Accepts responsibility for all aspects of clinical nursing practice leadership for the ambulatory departments; Develops, implements, and evaluates standards for clinical nursing practice, while maintaining compliance with the NYS Education Laws and Regulations, as evidenced by direct observation, interaction, and documentation Is accountable for ensuring consistent, safe, high-quality practice and processes, compliant with all appropriate regulatory bodies, are in place for all procedural and interventional activity occurring in the BMG ambulatory care settings Establishes regular meetings with the Ambulatory Nursing Leaders for information sharing and process planning, as well as to clarify and standardize nursing practice, as it relates to different clinical settings Establishes timely and effective communication with nursing supervisors and staff to keep them aware of important corporate, divisional or nursing department information and to receive information and insight from employees Establishes and/or staffs appropriate committees related to the effective accomplishment of department, corporate, and BMG objectives Serves as a role model for professional nursing to staff and colleagues, through networking as a responsible team member Utilizes nursing research as a basis for the promotion and development of practice standards and processes, utilized in the outpatient setting for patient care Identifies and corrects systems, patient care, and service delivery issues which interfere with safety, quality, or patient, staff and customer satisfaction issues, and/or identifies and works collaboratively with appropriate party Evaluates, develops and maintains performance improvement standards, quality metrics, and key performance indicators Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements (e.g.TJC), and serves as the lead quality liaison between the BMG and QRM Proactively identifies potential and actual risks to safety; identifies the underlying causes and makes necessary improvements so risk is reduced Supervises department nursing supervisors and clinical staff, develops mutually agreed upon performance standards, appraises performance, and provides direction ensuring effective performance of job responsibilities Ensures that nursing supervisors in the departments understand their responsibility as planners and implementers and possess or are developing the requisite knowledge and clinical skills to effectively lead their staff Develops and implements nursing practice improvement programs/processes to ensure achievement of organizational objectives Develops and maintains clinical policies and procedures, communication systems and provides overall management and direction to the clinical nursing staff of the department Provides guidance, consultation and support to nursing supervisors and staff in the areas of clinical skills, nursing practice, healthcare economics, and management of change, information services, communication, risk management, regulatory affairs, and related areas. Coordinate the use of specialized services in these areas, as needed, from internal and external sources such as consultants, vendors, other healthcare organizations, etc. Assesses staff education needs through clinical observation and/or formal needs assessment on an annual basis, plans, develops, and/or organizes educational programs to meet the educational needs, and establishes ambulatory nursing orientation and competency requirements that are aligned with the assessed needs as well as assure staff compliance Attends 24-30 hours of relevant educational in-service or programming annually to maintain job related knowledge, utilizing that knowledge in practice when possible, and maintains membership/attendance in at least one state or national nursing organization related to Ambulatory Nursing practice and Nursing Management Prepares a range of written reports relating to department and committee reporting Accepts responsibility for providing a Just Culture Conducts self in manner to achieve results in ways consistent with the organizational values and provides a constructive example for others to do likewise Fosters quality/cost accountability and systematic outcomes/improvements. Pay Range Minimum: USD $102,897.60/Yr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $154,336.00/Yr.
