JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Job Summary:

The Product Manager role within our utility company is pivotal in orchestrating product development, overseeing delivery teams (referred to as pods), and establishing and refining a repeatable and agile delivery methodology. This role involves leading and directing the daily operations of these teams, ensuring their performance aligns with established benchmarks, and cultivating an agile culture conducive to efficient product delivery.

Purpose Statement:

This role’s primary purpose is to spearhead product development efforts, leveraging organized delivery teams (pods) and maintaining a dynamic, repeatable agile delivery methodology. It entails not only leading the day-to-day activities of these teams but also monitoring and reporting their performance to ensure alignment with objectives. Moreover, fostering an agile delivery culture is paramount to this role’s responsibilities because it promotes an environment where innovation, collaboration, and adaptability drive successful product delivery within the organization.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Vision: Develop and articulate a clear product vision aligned with the utility’s goals and customer needs.

  • Project Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create project plans, defining scope, timelines, and resource requirements.

  • Execution Oversight: Lead the execution phase, ensuring that project activities are on track and in line with the established roadmap.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks that may impact project delivery, implementing contingency plans when necessary.

  • Program Alignment: Ensure product initiatives align with broader program objectives and organizational strategies.

  • Resource Coordination: Coordinate resources across multiple product-related projects to optimize efficiency and minimize bottlenecks.

  • Program Governance: Oversee adherence of governance standards within the product management domain.

  • Portfolio Strategy: Contribute to defining and refining the product portfolio strategy, aligning it with market demands and business goals.

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and assess the performance of products within the portfolio, making data-driven decisions to maximize value and ROI.

  • Portfolio Optimization: Optimize the product portfolio by evaluating market trends, customer feedback, and technological advancements.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, including the pods, fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment.

  • Change Management: Drive strategic change initiatives within the product management domain, ensuring teams adapt to evolving market landscapes and customer needs.

  • Decision-making: Make informed and timely decisions, guiding teams toward successful product launches and adaptations based on market feedback.

  • Product Development: Drives product development to launch and post-launch iterations.

  • Customer Satisfaction Analysis: Facilitates customer feedback to inform product decisions, ensuring products meet business requirements.

  • Product Strategy: Define and refine product strategies, ensuring they align with customer needs, competitive landscapes, and technological advancements.

  • Methodology Establishment: Develop, refine, and maintain an agile delivery methodology tailored to the unique needs of product management within the company.

  • Agile Implementation: Guide teams in the implementation of agile principles, facilitating iterative development and continuous improvement processes.

  • Culture Cultivation: Foster an agile culture within the product management domain, emphasizing adaptability, collaboration, and responsiveness to change.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is required. Additionally, candidates should possess a strong academic background with coursework or specialization in strategic planning, project management, and leadership. Equivalent professional experience in the field demonstrating expertise and a proven track record in technical planning and delivery.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Sr Staff Level: 7+ years of leading products, projects, or programs, preferably within the utility industry

  • Experience with process improvements and optimizations.

  • Experience with strategy and change management for an office function.

  • Experienced in both Agile and Waterfall methodology and JIRA tool.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of educational achievements, professional certifications, and a substantial track record of hands-on experience in AI planning and delivery, reflecting both technical proficiency and strategic leadership capabilities.

  • Comprehensive understanding of project management methodologies, business strategy formulation and implementation, and change management principles and practices.

  • Strong skills in overseeing the successful execution of projects, leading organizational change, and establishing and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) for projects, focusing on continuous improvement.

  • Capacity to navigate and lead in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, with a mindset that encourages and embraces innovation while demonstrating influencing skills to gain support for AI initiatives from

  • Stakeholders at various organizational levels.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

Program Management Professional (PMP) certification, Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification preferred
