SMT Laboratory Technician III

Summary:
Works with SMT Lab engineers and researchers by procuring, assembling, operating and calibrating manufacturing and test equipment. Collaborates with laboratory staff in equipment usage. Analyzes and interprets test data, and recommends changes in equipment, processes or methods.
Principal Accountabilities:
Maintains working knowledge, operation and troubleshooting of all manufacturing equipment such as printing, placement equipment, reflow ovens, dispensers, etc.
Performs machinery maintenance as required.
Assists with selection, procurement, assembly, use, and calibration of instruments, equipment and fixtures.
Takes part in training for proper use of analysis and production equipment, process materials, and safety.
Uses computer software and hardware to develop reflow profiles.
Generates process documentation and data used in reports according to ISO and departmental procedures.
Reviews customer projects, sets up, and runs the production line.
Maintains laboratory consumable materials inventory.
Minimum Requirements:
Associate's Degree in relevant field or equivalent course work in vocational or military training, preferred.
High School Diploma with 3-5 years of experience with manufacturing processes, materials, and yield, associated with SMT and/or advanced electronics assembly processes.
Experience with analytical tools such as microscopes, x-ray, CMM, digital imagery.
Experience with programming line equipment such as stencil printers, pick and place, reflow ovens etc.
Competency with MS Office Suite. (Word, Excel)
Experience with direct customer engagement.
AutoCAD and Gerber Data experience is a plus.
Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:
Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to access and manipulate various objects, tools or controls.
Ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings, machine and computer monitors, analog and digital output devices.
Must be able to distinguish colors.
Must be able to communicate clearly with customers and fellow colleagues.
