Typical Starting Salary Range is $31.33 - 42.60/hr
The State of New Hampshire, Department of Environmental Services, Waste Management Division, Oil Remediation and Compliance Bureau has a full time vacancy for an Oil Compliance Inspector Supervisor.
Summary:
Supervises, coordinates, and conducts detailed operational compliance inspections of regulated petroleum and hazardous substance storage tank facilities to determine the level of compliance with all applicable state statutes and administrative rules, and evaluates potential environmental impacts. Supervises inspectors for regulated aboveground and underground storage tanks.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree from a recognized college or university with major study in Engineering or Environmental/Earth Science. Each additional year of formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience:Six years experience as an Engineer, Environmentalist or Scientist in the area of engineering, design/technical review, water quality control, geology or storage tank design, two years of which shall have involved supervisory duties as well as the preparation of various environmental documents, or related research.
License/Certification:Eligibility for N.H. driver's license and/or access to transportation for use in statewide travel.
Responsibilities:
Supervises team of underground and aboveground storage tank inspectors and conducts inspections of regulated facilities to determine compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, evaluate potential impacts to the environment, and to determine oil cleanup fund eligibility in the event of a spill.
Conducts follow-up actions as required for non-compliant facilities to ensure that compliance is achieved in a timely manner and initiates an enforcement action if compliance is not achieved.
Assists in the review of testing reports and return to compliance documentation submitted by facility owners and operators is response to regulatory violations identified by the Department.
Interprets and explains requirements of agency rules and industry standards to facility owners, engineering consultants, government agencies, and the general public.
Provides technical assistance and educational outreach to facility owners, government agencies, business and industry organizations, contractors and consultants, and the general public in all forums. This includes development of course curriculum and participation as an instructor in formal training courses such as those offered to facility
