The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Human Resources, has a full-time vacancy for a Commercial Driver's License Trainer.
SUMMARY
:
To research and review regulations and best practices to coordinate the development of policies, programs, informational releases, or work procedures for Commercial Drivers License (CDL) training requirements in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and State of NH requirements.

: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Bachelors degree from a recognized college or university. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Three years of professional or paraprofessional experience in commercial fleet, driver qualification, transportation safety, driver training and testing, training or education, or a related field, with responsibility for program implementation, direct service delivery, planning or program evaluation. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Applicant must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Drivers License, Class-A (CDL-A) and have held a CDL for a minimum of 2 years. The applicants Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with State and Department rules and policies, including risk management, safety and environmental standards, regulations, and administrative orders. Must receive a negative result on a pre-employment urinalysis drug screen in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations and US DOT requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing driver qualifications under a Commercial Drivers license and Federal Motor Carrier Regulations. Knowledge of federal and community resources and organizations related to developing and maintaining programs and compliance with fleet and commercial driving requirements is also desired. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with experience in creating and maintaining databases. Knowledge of learning theories and development of training programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides quality, professional instruction, in coordination with Districts/Bureaus to eligible employees in preparation for testing necessary to obtain a Commercial Drivers permit and/or license using classroom and train-the trainer behind the wheel practical application methods.
Plans, organizes and schedules the collection and submission of documentation to FMCSA to comply with the ELDT requirements.
Implements the Departments CDL training program, including maintaining and updating records, coordinating training events, monitoring program effectiveness and serving as the Departments designated administrator of the FMSCA database.
Researches, analyzes, and interprets rules and regulations relevant to Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) in order to comply with state and federal law and department policies to develop comprehensive and effective theory and behind the wheel training curricula and materials.
Analyzes and interprets information including, but not limited to, training and licensing programs for the purpose of developing a comprehensive ELDT training program for Department employees.
Maintains and updates systems and prepares and disseminates reports detailing training and testing activity.
Coordinates and monitors the CDL training program for the Department including CDL-A and CDL-B theory and behind the wheel to determine effectiveness.
Consults with federal, state and local officials as well as Districts and Bureaus to ensure coordination in the implementation of the ELDT program.
Serves as a representative on committees and projects, including but not limited to the Unit Safety Committee and Joint Loss Management Committee as applicable.
