We are currently hiring for a Senior Manager – Engineering, Warehouse & Logistics for our new site in Concord, NC

Position Description:

The Senior Manager – Engineering, Warehouse & Logistics will join the Concord site as lead of the technical team that will support logistics equipment. This team will be responsible for supporting material handling and automated storage equipment commissioning and qualification activities, and ultimately ensuring the operating site Logistics System ( Automated Storage and Retrieval System, Material Conveyance, Automated Guided Vehicles, Autonomous Mobile Robots ) meets the requirements of the business.

The Supply Chain for this facility will be highly integrated, minimizing inventory holding, utilizing reusable/returnable containers and pallets in closed loop system design.

This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining systems to ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and qualified state of material handling and automated storage equipment, through management of a team of engineers. The individual in this position will ensure that the logistics systems and process equipment are in control, compliant, and capable of meeting plant production needs, while also driving continuous improvement efforts. This position is responsible for serving as subject matter expert in one or more disciplines, and for providing technical and leadership guidance to the engineering team, while also understanding the business impact and drivers outside of their own business area.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

Project Phase

  • As subject matter expert, support the definition of the strategy and roadmap for commissioning and qualification of the different elements and systems across the logistics areas, including integration with parenteral and device assembly and packaging areas.

  • Develop and implement the strategy for technical support 24x7 of the logistics areas in preparation for the operations phase (capabilities and resources needed, training needed, building of the team, etc.)

  • Drive lean principles and ensure efficient and effective material flows are maintained

  • As member of the logistics cross functional team, support the value stream mapping initiatives across the Concord site, ensure appropriate container harmonization, implement pallet and tote cleaning strategies as well as material identification strategies, etc.

  • Support the development of Logistics Standard Operating Procedures in partnership with Operations Leadership

  • Develop a spare parts strategy for logistics equipment

Post Project Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the Logistics Systems (AS/RS, Conveyance, AGVs, AMRs, etc.) meet the demands of the business

  • Monitor the daily performance of the system, looking for trends and opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Work closely with business leaders to identify when business demands will exceed the capability of the logistics system

Requirements (Education, Experience, Training):

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering,

  • SAP User/Experience in using ERP systems

  • Demonstrated Project Management skills and ability to coordinate complex projects across manufacturing network/external partners

  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively across functional groups and stakeholders

  • Strategic thinking and ability to balance short-term needs with long/term business evolution

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

  • Enthusiasm for changes, team spirit and flexibility

  • Previous experience in the design, project and start up of complex logistics equipment/systems (automated warehouse, Automated Guided Vehicles)
