Wells Fargo Principal Architect, Consumer Payments in CONCORD, California

This senior technical professional within the Consumer Technology organization is responsible for Customer Payment Management Architecture (L4) and the associated business-technology strategies.

This role is a key liaison with internal teams such as financial product development, operations, marketing, digital product development, design, technology, legal, risk and compliance. Experience in Digital Payments, Cloud, Data, DevSecOps, Domain Driven Design, Archimate, Architecture Frameworks (TOGAF) is foundational to the role.

In this role, you will:

  • Architect scalable and secure payment systems, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and best practices to deliver robust, reliable and compliant solutions.

  • Act as a Technology advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups

  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions

  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions

  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization

  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement through rigorous evaluation of existing systems and processes, recommending and implementing enhancements to optimize performance, reliability and cost efficiency

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: systems, applications, or architecture planning

  • 3+ years in one or a combination of: Engineering/Architecture in Payments and/or Financial Services Industry

  • 2+ years in Payments Engineering/Architecture

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with customer payment architecture and processing including digital payments, mobile deposits, debit card, payment gateways, and overall payment processing.

  • Experience in Cloud, Data, DevSecOps, Domain Driven Design, Archimate, Architecture Frameworks (TOGAF), and Agile

  • 5+ years in payments and financial services industry experience

  • Research and Analysis including Financial Analysis

  • Architecture strategy and roadmapping

  • High communication skills to work with all levels of business and technical teams

  • Ability to partner with many different platform engineering and architecture teams on architecture that spans multiple areas

  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management

  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships and provide mentorship to other architects

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Pay Range

$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
