Research Associate- Research Injury Xiang Requisition ID 2024-48270 Category Research Overview We are seeking an aspiring individual to join the research team of the Center for Pediatric Trauma Research (CPTR) and the Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP), Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Using a multidisciplinary approach, CPTR researchers lead innovative projects to assess pre-hospital emergency medical service, acute medical and surgical management, rehabilitation, and family and community services that impact the short and long-term outcomes of injured patients. Funded by various intramural and extramural research grants, this position will involve direct research participant interaction with children as well as adults both in person, over the phone or virtually. Possible duties may include: reviewing medical charts to identify potential participants; assembling and sending recruitment materials and research surveys via postal mail or electronically; participant recruitment both face-to-face and over the phone; describing the study to families and guiding them through the informed consent process; collecting data over the phone, and in person at Nationwide Children's Hospital; organizing completed surveys, and entering data into a computer database; maintaining participant files and tracking progress throughout study participation; making recommendations about refinement and/or replacement of study procedures. The Research Associate also needs to participate in drafting project reports and publishing manuscripts as the first or coauthor in scientific journals. A Place to Be Proud Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs research procedures independently or semi-independently in accordance with protocols approved by the principal investigator. Such experiments involve human subjects and may require evening and/or weekend duties. Collaborate with the principal investigator and other clinical researchers to conduct high-quality research; maintain knowledge of specific study and regulatory guidelines to help ensure compliance. Screen and recruit study participants. Collect and check the quality of research data and patient information; and maintain accurate patient recruitment logs/ Assist the principal investigator and the team in the preparation of scientific publications and grant proposals. Write and edit progress reports, technical reports, academic papers, and research presentations in cooperation with the research team.
