What you'll do

  • The Principal Application Engineer will be focused on delivering value to our customers within the Pressure Sensitive Adhesives business through on-site product / technology coater demonstrations and troubleshooting.

  • The role also includes applications-based technical support at assigned regional customers for product recommendations, problem solving, complaint handling, and value delivery / quantification projects.

  • Serves as lead resource for product / technology demos, troubleshooting, and training at customer sites and supports visits.

  • Collaborates as technical liaison between our customers and our internal team including product development, manufacturing, supply chain, and marketing.

  • Provides timely technical support for assigned regional customers including product recommendations, complaint investigations, and analytical problem solving.

  • Demonstrates appropriate project management skills by scoping customer projects, as well as supporting our market areas by driving our innovation and technology pipeline.

  • Plans and communicates laboratory requests to Technical Center team to support customer / market projects.

  • Prepares reports to summarize findings & conclusions and effectively communicates technical information directly to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Drives innovation and success of new technology platforms for pressure sensitive adhesives using knowledge and expertise of industry, applications, and customers.

  • Provides PSA market-specific expertise including involvement in professional societies and industry associations

What makes you a good fit

  • BS ChE, ME, MatE, Chemistry or similar degree / experience required.

  • 10-15+ years of Technical Service, Engineering, or Development experience in the Pressure Sensitive Adhesives industry.

  • Hands-on coating and/or converting expertise (mechanical / application equipment aptitude) in at least one technology area is a must, for example: hot melt, UV curable, solvent-based, or water-based adhesives and/or coatings, or converting operations (slitting, etc.).

  • Experience in troubleshooting complex / difficult problems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent people skills; able to work effectively with a range of individuals from manufacturing operators and laboratory technicians through senior management both at customers and within Henkel.

  • Excellent project management and organization skills.

  • Willing to travel approximately 40-50%, primarily in the USA and occasionally MX/CAN.

The salary for this role is $105,200.00 - $145,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
