Amergis Physical Therapist Assistant in Columbus, Ohio
$30-35/hour
The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapy services, including treatment, implementation, and documentation, under the direction of the Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician’s plan of care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides physical therapy according to the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician’s plan of care according to state regulations
Treats students to help relieve pain, develops or restores function, and maintains Amergisum functional mobility and performance
Continues to assess the students environment safety risks and equipment needs
Directs and aids students in active, passive and resistive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, functional gait and balance training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training
Instructs care and use of assistive mobility devices, braces and prosthetic or orthotic devices
Utilizes physical agents, including but not limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage
Cleans and maintains equipment used in the field in accordance with manufactures directions
Instructs and educates student, family, and/or caregivers in the use of and care of therapeutic appliances
Reports reaction(s) to treatment or change(s) in condition to physician, District Nurse and/or Director of Clinical Services or designee, and Physical Therapist
Identifies students and family/caregiver needs for other supportive services and notifies Physical
Therapist, District Nurse and Director of Clinical Services as applicable
Maintains communication with the district and other personnel caring for the student to assure that their efforts effectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan of care
Prepares and submits clinical progress-summaries based on the progress toward goals and responses to treatment
Participates in care conferences, meetings and in-service education, as applicable
According to knowledge level, may provide in-service education programs for other disciplines as necessary
Participates in quarterly medical record review, as applicable
Provides/submits accurate and timely documentation that is consistent with the plan of care and district requirements
Complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards
Minimum Requirements:
Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of practice
One (1) year of prior professional Physical Therapy Assistant experience preferred.
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age

The actual pay offered to a successful candidate will takeinto account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to location,experience, and other variable factors.
