Job Summary

The National Account Executive (NAE) is responsible for the retention, expansion, and overall satisfaction of National Account customers, the largest source of electric revenue, across the Company's 11-state service territory. An NAE must have a mindset which includes an Economic and Business Development focus and a proactive, consultive sales approach to Customer Service. As a result of this mindset and approach, the NAE will proactively manage and be ultimately responsible for the development and successful implementation of strategic programs and offerings, developing new business, providing exceptional customer service, contract development and negotiation, and building long-term win-win business relationships / partnerships with executive level decision makers. To meet these Goals and Objectives, the NAE shall also responsible for proactively managing internal relationships with various AEP Operating Company/Affiliate personnel across all departments including, but not limited to Operations, Regulatory Affairs and Customer Service.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Establish and maintain high-level relationships with key decision makers within the National Account entities. Is responsible for the retention, expansion, and overall satisfaction of that client base.

  • Provide a, single, point-of-contact within the AEP organization to resolve critical issues with key decision makers within the National Account entities.

  • Proactively manage and be ultimately responsible for the development and successful implementation of strategic programs and offerings, developing new business, providing exceptional customer service, contract development and negotiation, building long-term business relationships with executive level decision makers, new service issues, and various account management initiatives.

  • Proactively manage internal relationships, including the interface, engagement, collaboration and teaming with various personnel at the AEP Operating Company/Affiliate level. This not only includes relationships with engineers, account managers and representatives but also includes relationships with leadership across all departments, including but not limited to Operations, Regulatory Affairs and Customer Service. Examples of this proactive approach are: leading/facilitating attending periodic AEP Operating Company/Affiliate meetings, briefings to communicate with those departments on various National Customer activities and issues within their jurisdictions.

  • Develop strategies to market a variety of products and services to AEP customers in various National Account customer locations.

  • Develop a program of work to conduct marketing outreach to these customers, including prioritization of outreach, key targets for the various services and product offerings, value propositions, etc.

  • Work with and engage the operating companies’ leadership (at the executive, regulatory, & customer service level) with various issues that may affect the National Account entities we currently serve.

  • Promote and support operating company Energy Efficiency/Demand Response programs system wide to National Account entities we currently serve.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education : Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Business Administration.

Work Experience: five (5) years of field customer relations experience, technical knowledge in energy, industrial or commercial technologies.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical demand level is Sedentary

INITIAL POSITION / BASE SALARY FUNDING: ($110,656 - $143,852). In addition to base salary, AEP offers competitive Total Rewards including: discretionary annual incentive, 401(k), pension, health insurance, vacation, etc.
