Allied Mineral Products Forklift Mechanic in Columbus, Ohio
Allied Mineral Products, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
We are looking for an energetic, motivated and results individual to join our Maintenance Team.
$750 sign on bonus.
1st shift
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for routine servicing of forklift truck equipment. As needed for production use.
Seek out the root causes of equipment problems and implement solutions to eliminate those problems.
Review preventative maintenance procedures and recommend improvements to eliminate any shortcomings.
Use the Maintenance Department work order system to identify work to be done and to accurately record parts used, time required to complete work, and what work was done.
As directed by management, implement equipment modifications to improve performance.
Properly use and maintain all tools normally associated with this job.
Maintain high standards for housekeeping procedures on all maintenance jobs and work areas.
Clean work area after repair, PM, or Project.
Clean shop area when work is complete
Maintain clean organized cart
Maintain tool inventory 6 Month PM
Return shop equipment to original location and report any problems to your team leader
Follow all company rules and regulations.
Must abide by all Allied’s Health and Safety rules in addition to all Federal, state, and other standards.
Perform any other job duties which may become necessary.
Qualifications
Must be physically and mentally fit for duty.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Dependable and able to maintain the attendance required to perform the job.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and fully understand: SOPs, SDSs, labeling, safety and health regulations, and procedures within the job, this job group and the plant.
Ability to operate computerized equipment, read scales, recognize product problems, malfunctions and patterns out of specification.
Requires at least two years’ experience forklift repairs or automobile mechanics.
Good human relations skills and a practical approach to problem solving are necessary.
In addition, the following qualifications are essential for this position: the ability to work independently; excellent troubleshooting skills; ability to quickly isolate problems and repair equipment with minimum downtime; willingness to work flexible hours as needed; must be available for any shift or time needed.
Working Environment
The job is in a dusty and dirty environment.
Working in a hot and/or cold environment.
Required to wear respirator, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to qualify for and wear a respirator.
Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, and bending.It may also be required that a drug screening test and/or physical examination be taken in the future as needed to determine fitness for duty.
