Portfolio/Risk Specialist - Senior

Job Description Summary:

The Portfolio/Risk Specialist will join the Credit Risk Assessment team in supporting second line of defense for Credit. In this role, the qualified candidate will support the team by ensuring alignment with the Credit Risk Management Oversight Framework, including maintaining Credit Risk Process and Procedures, working with first line in evaluation of the risk register, and evaluating and monitoring assigned, complex credit portfolios, focusing on risk management and/or portfolio analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies credit quality risks, potential portfolio risks and/or economic risk and assesses the impact of these risks on the credit portfolio(s).

  • Monitors the portfolio for compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluates and reports on the portfolio performance and forecasts future performance trends.

  • Informs management of potential credit and/or economic portfolio risk and recommends strategies to minimize the risk.

  • Works with various bank personnel in developing strategies that support portfolio objectives.

  • Maintains all documentation on the assigned portfolio, including Credit Risk Assessment Process and Procedures.

  • Maintain appropriate reporting risk management effectiveness within each loan portfolio. This includes the analysis of application trends, risk assessment, management reporting, portfolio performance, and review/assessment of key credit metrics.

  • Closely monitor economic & social environmental factors that would have an impact on portfolio credit performance and work with first line of defense to develop proactive mitigation actions.

  • Leverage credit risk data experience and business acumen to observe key trends/threats/inaccuracies and drivers of those observations.

  • Provide analysis and 2nd line of defense monitoring and oversight of our various lending programs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • At least seven years of financial services experience in risk, data, credit, or audit role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Ability to use critical thinking and creativity to solve business problems

  • Comprehensive knowledge and skill of Microsoft Excel data management techniques for analysis and reporting.

  • Knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment
