Definition
Under general direction, is responsible for supervising others engaged in composting operations and maintenance; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work

Assigns and monitors the work activities of personnel engaged in composting operations and maintenance;
Trains personnel in composting operations, maintenance, work procedures, and safety procedures;
Evaluates performance of personnel by developing work standards and completing probationary performance appraisals;
Investigates work-related incidents and alleged violations of work rules, policies, procedures, and operational impairments;
Recommends the approval of leaves of absence and disciplinary actions for subordinates;
Maintains records of composting operations and maintenance by collecting data on work activities;
Interprets data collected from composting operations and maintenance and modifies work activities accordingly;
Schedules and certifies overtime work activities for operations and maintenance personnel;
Responds to public inquiries concerning composting operations and maintenance;
Explains and interprets governmental regulations, policies, and procedures to personnel;
Prepares supply, materials, and equipment specifications and purchase orders;
Serves as manager in his/her absence;
Participates in professional activities to remain knowledgeable of developments in composting operations and maintenance;
May operate equipment as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience in composting or wastewater operations and/or maintenance.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

The names of the applicants passing this administration of this exam will be used to create aNEW, OPEN COMPETITIVE, eligible list, and willreplacethe names on the current list. If you are interested in having your name included on the new eligible list, you will need to apply for this exam within the filing period and successfully complete all phases of the testing process. The examination process will consist of a computerized exam weighted 100% covering Supervision, Reading Comprehension, Information Ordering, Problem Sensitivity, Safety, and Microsoft 2016/2019 Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Approved applicants will be notified by mail/email of their scheduled test date and time.
All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years. If a candidate's name is certified and the candidate is to be considered for employment, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug test.
