NiSource Clearance Coordinator in Columbus, Ohio

Job Summary
As part of the Clearance Coordination Center within Gas Control, Clearance Coordinators 1, 2, and Senior positions are responsible for authorizing all applicable gas related work, through planning, development and implementation, for all NiSource gas transmission and distribution operations, including, but not limited to: driving NiSource's simultaneous work avoidance efforts; exercising independent judgment and discretion to ensure NiSource maintains situational awareness on all activities affecting its gas assets; providing oversight to all field resources; preparing documentation and analysis for internal and external audits and administrative activities; and coordinating activities with NiSource, upstream pipeline providers, and contractors to ensure adherence to key components of Gas Standards and all applicable Operational Notices. Persons holding the positions will apply specialized utility and industry knowledge and various analysis tools to review concurrent work, supply positions, and real-time system conditions; analyze and revise gas special instructions; and provide exceptional customer service for all NiSource LDCs while providing meaningful metrics to measure performance of all clearance center activities.
Essential Functions
Execute clearance requests under normal and emergency conditions based on review of work requests from NiSource and upstream supplier field personnel applying independent judgment and reasoning to determine whether and when to permit field maintenance/repairs/construction to begin, prioritize the order in which requests are granted, suspend, or modify a request that has been granted
Independently evaluate and prioritize outages and emergencies
Originate, coordinate, and dispatch clearance orders and grant clearance to field personnel under emergency conditions, as required utilizing their judgment to determine whether when to grant clearance, prioritizing the order with other existing clearances, and suspending or modifying other clearances
Prepare all required Clearance Management databases
Independently review, approve and track all system events and communicate necessary changes to appropriate internal and external stakeholders including but not limited upstream suppliers, Gas Control, and field personnel
Collaborate with Clearance Engineers to avoid potential simultaneous work situations
Prepare information to fulfill various regulatory agency and management data requests
Coordinate system changes with Clearance Engineers, Gas System Planning, Gas Control, Field Engineering, M&R, GM&T, and any other applicable department
Required Qualifications For Position
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent work experience
4-6 years of experience in utility / industrial operations
1-3 years of experience in operational process design
4-6 years of experience reading, writing, and/or interpreting technical plans, processes, and procedures
Possess an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel – pivot tables, macro creation, and statistical analysis
Ability to read, write and interpret technical plans, processes and procedures
Good planning, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform duties effectively under emergency and contingency situations
Ability to perform self-guided study and training as instructed
Manipulating database information with Microsoft Access and SQL or similar products
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in high profile and fast paced environment
Demonstrated problem solving skills and capacity to make decisions among various alternatives under pressure and communicate to all stakeholders
Working knowledge of operating systems, such as WMSdoc, Maximo, SCADA etc.
Strong knowledge of safety and compliance requirements
Extensive transmission and distribution gas system knowledge
Expert in principles of project management or CAPM/PMP Certification
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
Master's Degree Master of Business Administration, Master of Business Analytics, or equivalent business/data analytics graduate degree
1-3 years of experience in the gas utility industry or natural gas operations
1-3 years of experience in Gas Control operations
1-3 years of experience at NiSource gas operations
1-3 years of experience in NiSource operational process design
Work Authorization
Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Salary Range:
$65,900.00 - $99,000.00
