Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Resource Planning Coordinator, Senior Resource Planning Coordinator or Resource Planning Team Leader located at Columbus General Office in Columbus , Nebraska. Position closes on December 11, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. Applicants will be reviewed starting on November 26, 2024.

This position will report to the Resource Planning Manager.

Position Summary

Resource Planning Coordinator

The incumbent provides the overall coordination of and technical development for a variety of analytical projects associated with load forecasting and resource planning. These projects will include developing spreadsheet-based data models and software-based models and analyses to complete projects in load forecasting and econometric modeling, integrated resource planning, production cost modeling and utilization, risk management analysis, economic business case analysis, and decision support for asset management, market operations, and strategic issues important to NPPD.

Senior Resource Planning Coordinator

The incumbent provides the overall coordination of and technical development for a variety of analytical projects associated with load forecasting and resource planning. These projects will include developing spreadsheet-based data models and software-based models and analyses to complete projects in load forecasting and econometric modeling, integrated resource planning, production cost modeling and utilization, risk management analysis, economic business case analysis, and decision support for asset management, market operations, and strategic issues important to NPPD.

Senior Resource Planning Coordinator

The incumbent is responsible for overall technical creation, project management, and project team leadership of resource planning projects. This involves conceptualizing, developing, deploying, and analyzing complex production cost and capacity expansion models of NPPD’s generation, load, and market interactions over time periods ranging from one (1) to thirty (30) or more years in support of financial planning/budgeting, fuel purchases, and integrated resource planning. Incumbent provides the critical analysis, evaluation, and delivery of results of resource planning studies to both internal and external stakeholders including regulatory entities and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) as required.

Education, Training and Experience

Resource Planning Coordinator

Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, mathematics, applied analytics, or related quantitatively rigorous field is required. The incumbent has the technical background to perform electric load forecasting, resource planning, risk analysis, or economic analysis.

Experience from college courses or work in programming (e.g., Visual Basic, R, SAS) for developing and using analytical models with Ecel and other computer-based tools which can be used for forecasting, planning and risk analysis is required.

Senior Resource Planning Coordinator

Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, mathematics, applied analytics, or related quantitatively rigorous field is required. Graduate degree in engineering, finance, economics, or business is preferred.

Three years’ experience in programming (e.g., Visual Basic, SQL, R, SAS) for developing and using analytical models with Excel and other computer-based tools which can be used for forecasting, planning, and risk analysis and demonstrated electric load forecasting, resource planning, risk analysis, or economic analysis experience or equivalent experience is required.

Resource Planning Team Leader

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, mathematics, applied analytics, or related quantitatively rigorous field plus seven (7) years of relevant energy industry experience required with three years’ experience in programming (e.g., Visual Basic, SQL, R, SAS) for developing and using analytical models with Excel and other computer-based tools which can be used for forecasting, planning, and risk analysis is required. Advanced data wrangling or SQL skills preferred .

OR

Master’s degree or higher and five (5) years of relevant energy industry experience.

Experience with production cost modeling or capacity expansion software strongly preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Resource Planning Coordinator

Performs risk and decision analysis methodologies into analyses as appropriate and as directed by others.

Assist in the gathering, preparation, and structuring of data from a variety of sources as inputs to models, analyses, and simulations.

Extract, calculate, and assess the results of models, analyses, and simulations. Assist in the preparation and presentation of the results as appropriate.

Supports overall technical development for and analysis of projects.

Supports processes that optimize NPPD’s capital resources.

Support analytical assistance in the development of native load demand, energy, and revenue forecasts as directed by others.

Support analytical assistance in the development of production and Integrated Resource Planning models as directed by others.

Support NPPD’s planning activities in the Southwest Power Pool as directed by others.

Support strategic analysis work.

Senior Resource Planning Coordi nator

Incorporate risk and decision analysis methodologies into analyses as appropriate. Gather, prepare, and structure data from a variety of sources as inputs to models, analyses, and simulations.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Resource Planning Coordinator

Pay Grade - 12

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $6,105.00 - $8,140.00

The Resource Planning Coordinator position is a career path advancement position within the Resource Planning Department and is based on business need. The incumbent must obtain 3 years of experience, at a minimum, and demonstrated ability to take on next level job duties as the Senior Resource Planning Coordinator to advance.

Pay Grade - 14

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $7,746.00 - $10,586.00

Resource Planning Team Leader

Pay Grade - 15

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $9,432.00 - $12,148.00

Position placement is basedon incumbent experience, knowledge, and qualifications for the respective position.

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
