Vectrus Maintenance Assistant Supervisor (Shop B) in Columbus, Georgia

The Maintenance Assistant Supervisor works under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor Shop B. The Maintenance Assistant Supervisor will lead a team of technicians, clerks and inspectors throughout the daily maintenance operations of Equipment Repairs / Services which comprise are 90% commercial construction items, military items and small engine repairs. Also, be knowledgeable in computer operation (outlook, word, excel, power point), use Automated Logistics Information System / Global Combat Support System -Army and ensure equipment records are maintained.

Interfaces with government representatives and ensures Shop B is in contract compliance. On some occasions you will inspect various types of non-tactical vehicles, heavy construction equipment and small engine repairs in order to perform troubleshooting actions and diagnose defects; examine parts for damage or excessive wear; repair or replace parts as required; service, repair, rebuild, and maintain all different types of equipment.

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conducts scheduled and unscheduled services in accordance with current applicable Technical Manual (TM) -10, -20, and -30 level maintenance on various vehicle systems, follows TM service/lube order criteria, and perform weekly and monthly PMCS, diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions, performs field level maintenance on the engines, transmissions, and power train major assemblies and components.

  • Provide information and reports, resolve issues and recommend actions to improve delivery of services as required.

  • Reviews schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning repair parts requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering facility limitations and time constraints.

  • Follows repair procedures using Maintenance Allocation Charts (MAC), as well as USG and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical manuals. Tests and adjusts repaired systems to meet Military performance specifications.

  • Ensure task requirements are met in accordance with PWS for all performance areas.

  • Assist and maintains statistical analysis data of operations including manpower utilization, material cost and usage, work center utilization, and other key contractual performance indicators.

  • Performs battlefield damage, assessment, and repair.

  • Use Automated Logistics Information System and ensure equipment records are maintained.

  • Maintains and develops positive business relationships with customer’s key personnel involved in or directly relevant to the operation.

  • Safety /Risk assessment is to be adhered to.

  • Ensure all shop Environmental / hazardous related concerns are in compliance.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Tracks overdue services

    Working Environment:

  • Dirt, dust, grease may be present.

  • There is frequent exposure to chemicals that burn or irritate the skin if proper personal protective equipment is not used.

  • If employee fails to follow appropriate safety procedures, there could be exposure to cuts, bruises, shocks, and strains.

  • May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire regulations and published company rules and Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education / Certifications : One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Must have at least 3 years of direct supervisory experience in a setting involving the Maintenance of Army Material.

  • Must have an operational knowledge of the use of the Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-Army) and other related logistic information systems.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must be able to attend the 8-hour Hazardous Waste Manager’s course

  • Valid Driver’s License without restrictions

    Experience:

  • 3-6 years’ experience in Automotive/ General Equipment maintenance or an equivalent.

    Skills/Technology Used:

  • Ability to lead a mobile maintenance team through the day-to-day logistical requirements in order to service, repair tactical, non-tactical, commercial and construction equipment.

  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and cooling systems and components on various construction equipment, tracked vehicles, lawn equipment and other small engine systems in accordance with appropriate procedures and publications.
