Colliers Engineering & Design Civil Project Engineer in Columbia, Maryland

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Telecom team in Columbia, MD!

We are a full-service consulting engineering and construction observation/ testing firm involved in leading-edge engineering solutions for the latest cellular technology to meet the demands of major carriers and tower owners nationwide. The Telecom Project Engineer will be involved in all aspects of site design associated with engineering telecommunication wireless and wireline (fiber optic) projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare stormwater, grading, and erosion and sediment control designs with minimal guidance preferred.

  • Prepare and/or review land development, zoning, and construction drawings (raw lands, rooftops, etc.) with minimal guidance.

  • Internally manage small groups of sites (10-20) for completion with PM oversight.

  • Serve as a secondary point of contact for smaller external clients.

  • Assist and host conference calls with clients for site design issues and zoning preparation.

  • Prepare or review scopes of work and budgets, and schedule assignments.

  • Prepare proposals for professional services with PM oversight.

  • Provide direction and technical guidance to engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.

  • Work within AutoCAD Civil 3D to successfully complete projects within established budgets and deadlines.

  • Perform field investigations/site visits, as needed.

  • Provide PM support for specific delegated tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field is required.

  • 4+ years of experience in related field.

  • EIT is required; Professional Engineer license preferred.

  • Civil design experience highly preferred.

  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge.

  • Demonstrate extensive, diversified, and complex knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices.

  • Demonstrate advanced investigative, analytical and research skills.

  • Ability to effectively perform as a key team member/role model.

  • Demonstrate advanced technical and nontechnical writing, editing and proofreading skills.

  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Requires a pre-employment drug screen.
