About the Division of Youth Services:
The Division of Youth Services (DYS) provides a continuum of residential and non-residential services that encompass juvenile detention, commitment and parole. DYS is the agency statutorily mandated to provide for the care and supervision of youth committed by the District Court to the custody of the Colorado Department of Human Services. The Division operates 15 secure facilities that serve youth between the ages of 10 and 21, who are pre-adjudicated, sentenced, or committed. The Division also contracts with numerous private residential and non-residential service providers throughout the State. For pre-adjudicated youth, the Division is also responsible for the management and oversight of Senate Bill 91-94; a State-funded, locally administered program that provides services to youth at risk of further progressing into the juvenile justice system. In addition to residential programming, the Division administers juvenile parole services throughout the State.
Description of Job
Overall Function of the Work Unit
This work unit exists to provide academic, vocational, and other education-related services to youth in institutional facilities, to provide professional consultation to community programs which serve DYC youth, and to establish and maintain collaboration with other state and community agencies that provide or monitor education services.
The purpose of this position is to provide testing support to the school assessment center in a secure treatment facility and perform some data entry duties required for educational program monitoring. These include test results, assessment reports, classroom grades, and may include student credits and transcripts. This will include inputting data into the state tracking system.
Job Duties:
Test Proctoring, Scheduling and Results Monitoring. Maintains a secure test environment and proctor MAP test, state mandated tests, and GED tests for identified students. Create and maintain a testing schedule that is communicated to all parties. Track and monitor tests, testing information, results in a digital format and update as needed. Downloads reports from tests and various databases to include in assessment reports for MDT and IEP meetings, student pre-test results from GED, writing samples, and grades and as requested by school principal.
Educational Assessment and Data Entry. Enters testing data into spreadsheets, forms, and tools to be used by multiple stakeholders in a timely manner. Works with teachers and staff to create a safe testing environment, assists with giving tests orally as needed, follow up on next educational data collection required. Updates and sends monthly data sheets and MTSS information to principal and DYS Education Director via email attachments. Monitors attendance and grades to report to principal and DYS education director monthly or as asked. Maintaining organized spreadsheets and documentation.
Classroom Support and other duties as described. Works with State Teacher I’s and the Principal to determine what classrooms need additional support based on specific lesson plans and student needs. Sits with students to help with guided work or computer-based work.
Assists the special education coordinator with scheduling IEP meetings and sending out meeting notification. Assists with planning information for MDT’s and monitoring MDT calendar. Informing the principal of testing commitments.
Other Duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment
Substitutions:
Two (2) years of study at an accredited institution (equivalent to 48 semester hours) will substitute for the degree requirement.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics through a formal state or local academic assessment (e.g., ACT WorkKeys) will substitute for the degree requirement, but a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required if using this substitution.

CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers).
Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. Driver's License.
Travel – travel to education trainings may be required
Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the DYS Pre-service Training Academy, Field Training Program (FTO) and mandatory annual training in all subject areas.
Must be 21 years old or older.
Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must (1) disclose that information on the application (2) provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position, (3) provide the employee number from the applicant’s prior State employment. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination and failure to provide this information will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
