Roundup Fellowship Special Education Paraprofessional in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Job Summary: This person works directly with students teaching new skills and helping students who exhibit challenging behaviors. This person assists teachers to develop curriculum and helps students in completing routines ensuring IEP and Day Treatment goals are being addressed. This person is responsible for documenting programs, behavior charts, incident reports, and log notes. This person is responsible for supervising the students, ensuring a clean safe environment, and participating in recreational activities and community and classroom teaching. This person is responsible for assisting teachers to develop, implement, assess and monitor skill and behavior programs to address IEP and Day Treatment goals.

Duties and Responsibilities: Uphold the mission, values, policies and procedures of Roundup Fellowship. Supervise students at school and in community settings ensuring their safety. Assist students to complete daily routines and programs. Intervene in behavior management as indicated in individual crisis intervention and behavior modification programs. Maintain frequent and professional communication with supervisors, family members, schools, therapists, and other professionals or significant others. Complete appropriate documentation including log notes, communication notes, and incident reports. Perform basic cleaning duties to maintain a safe and healthy environment. Participate in meetings and training as scheduled or requested by supervisor. Assist with transportation of students to and from school, for community activities, vocational and educational experiences. Administer medication as prescribed following proper procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Minimum age of 25. High school graduate (or equivalent) and four years experience working with children OR a bachelors degree. Ability to read, write, and speak the English Language for required paperwork, testing, and professional communication. Ability to operate a computer utilizing Microsoft Office. Colorado Driver's license, satisfactory driving record and the ability to drive a 10 passenger vehicle. Satisfactory central registry and CBI record check. Ability to do simple math calculations and analyze data. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure while dealing with a variety of emotions and frustrations. Requires scheduling flexibility. Ability to work as a team member. Ability to communicate effectively with respect and tact in order to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate plans, prepare materials. Physical and Mental Demands: Requires sufficient range of physical strength, endurance, and mobility to assist in personal care of resident, activities and behavioral interventions. Must be able to walk up and down one flight of stairs. Requires adequate range of hearing and vision to properly supervise students. Requires mental flexibility, emotional stability, personal maturity, and creativity in dealing with difficult situations.
