Environmental Specialist (Laboratory Information Management System Administrator)
We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our team! This position is responsible for management of the Laboratory Services Section’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) which houses water quality analytical data for regulatory compliance with the Safe Drinking Water and Clean Water Acts. While maintaining the LIMS, the core work duties of this position include evaluating, planning, and conducting projects related to environmental data collection. You will also develop and implement processes and procedures for analyzing, recording, storing, and graphing compliance environmental data, preparing reports or other written interpretations for submission to regulating authorities, i.e. Colorado Dept of Health and Environment and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Key areas of focus:
Basic administration and management of the Laboratory Services Section's (LSS) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to support compliance with the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act
Oversee and maintain LIMS both from a software and a hardware standpoint
Interact with LIMS users to provide support for the application
Provide training for new and existing users
Recognize software and hardware solutions that may improve LIMS
Oversee LIMS development lifecycle
Assess available LIMS upgrades and make recommendations
Configure LIMS utilizing Explorer folders, forms, Report and Label Templates and Workflows
Create Report Template Reports
Integrate information systems and lab instruments using SampleManager, LES, and/or Integration Manager
Provide LIMS problem-solving support to LSS teams
Implement automation techniques between LIMS and data stakeholders
Partner with end users to gather and understand technology needs, issues, and requirements Install, test, evaluate, monitor, and troubleshoot LIMS technologies to ensure the system is functioning and meets the requirements of LSS
Who You Are… You will ideally have a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Information Technology, or a closely related field, and at least 2 years of experience in the Laboratory field. You must be highly motivated, a collaborative team member, and someone who demonstrates high levels of accuracy, attention to detail, and inductive reasoning abilities; an intuitive problem solver and customer service-focused individual who exhibits grace under pressure and can make sound decisions.
