Robert Half is seeking an experienced Controller to join a small but reputable organization Colorado Springs. As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit or public accounting, with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller. The Controller will be responsible for supervising a team of 4 staff members, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, month-end close processes, and assisting with audits.


  • Supervise and manage a team of 4 accounting staff members.

  • Review and approve financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop and monitor annual budgets.

  • Perform variance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.

  • Coordinate and oversee month-end close processes, including reconciliations and accruals.

  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual audits, providing documentation and support as needed.

  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure data integrity.

  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in non-profit or public accounting.



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller in a non-profit or public accounting environment.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting standards.

  • Experience supervising and managing a team of accounting professionals.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

  • Commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality in handling financial information.
