This position is covered by the Partnership Agreement between the State of Colorado and Colorado Workers for Innovative and New Solutions (COWins).
New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
This position serves as the CDOT project engineer delegated by the Chief Engineer to act as a fully authorized representative in direct charge of construction projects and participates in pre-construction phases. This position also provides technical information to CDOT specialty branches and outside municipalities and ensures that departmental policy, procedures and design standards are addressed and incorporated into roadway construction plans.
This position has oversight of all related contractors, subcontractors and consultants and is responsible for resolving all changes from plans, schedules, programs, contracts, criteria, specifications by consultants/contractors. This position reviews the requirements, needs, and limitations for projects, and then plans the processes needed to accomplish the project management, in terms of human, fiscal, material, and equipment or facility resources. This position functions as the Project Manager on smaller CDOT projects and as the Assistant Project Manager on larger, more complex projects. The primary goal is to ensure safe and effective construction.
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Administers construction contracts and/or monitors consultant s construction management of transportation projects;
Monitors project schedules, expenditures, materials, and producing daily documentation;
Works with PE to plan manpower needed for each project., ensuring that material and equipment needs are adequate for each project;
Reviews all activities and reports to confirm that all project items are complete;
Analyzes claims by reviewing claim package from contractor, reviewing relevant project documentation and makes recommendations to Resident Engineer;
Reviews plans and specifications to make decisions regarding layouts, alignments, standard designs, tabulations, specifications, quantities, acquisitions and clearances, etc., all incorporated in the bid document packages for, state highways for timely project advertisement;
Executes change orders as required;
Initiates, develops, and maintains effective professional working relationships with work units within CDOT, as well as federal governmental agencies, municipalities, utilities and other entities involved at the project level;
Coordinates and interacts daily with the general public, private consultants, and contractors directly involved or affected by the assigned projects;
As an experienced project manager will lead work other positions at CDOT and train and mentor less experienced assistant project managers;
Trains consultants on site and mentors less experience assistant project managers as needed and will lead work other positions;
Other duties as assigned.
