Job Overview

Ensures safe, appropriate, and economical use of drugs through the application of specialized skills and knowledge in pediatric patient care.

Qualifications

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree Experience: Two (2) years of residency experience or one (1) year of residency plus three (3) years of work experience Equivalency: Three (3) years of pharmacy work experience in area of specialty accepted in lieu of 2nd year of residency. Certification(s): BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute accepted) Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Pharmacy license

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE Neonate - 30 days to 1yr Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs School age - >5yrs to 13yrs Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. 1. Designs and leads pharmaceutical outcomes research. Identifies opportunities for and participates in drug utilization reviews and research. Identifies opportunities for publishing case reports, unique therapeutic interventions, development of practice standards, and other medication related pharmacy topics. 2. Demonstrates sustained record of contributing to the pharmacy practice knowledge through: Publications in professionals journals or books, Posters/presentations at professional meetings (regional/national level), Review of book chapters and manuscripts submitted for publication. 3. Participates in the education of pharmacy staff, nursing staff, medical staff, pharmacy residents and students, other heal hcare allied professionals and patients and families. Serves as a preceptor and mentor for pharmacy residents and students. 4. Participates on a hospital committee(s) 5. Provides drug information services by responding to questions regarding medication compatibilities, adverse drug events, regimens, dosing, interactions, storage and disposal, compounding, therapeutic uses of medications and pharmaceutical supplies in a timely manner; using a systematic approach to effectively searching, retrieving, and evaluating the literature and appropriately communicating and applying the information to
